I had a great morning spa for my friends birthday. We chose 2 treatments and used their facilities. Lovely, clean premises. Friendly, helpful staff. I would definitely go again.
You get what you pay for, if you buy a spa deal and are happy with rundown facilities, there’s nothing wrong with going here but this is not a luxury spa or anything close. The locker rooms and toilets feel like a school locker room, they are very dirty and dated. You have to press the shower every 30 seconds to keep the water running. Other than body wash, there are no products to use - no shampoo, conditioner, hair products, body lotion, etc. I would expect that from a spa even if it wasn’t a very good one. You have to pay £20 for a robe, towel and slippers. You get £10 back so you’re still paying £10 on top of access and treatments and the towel is super super thin, I could see through it. The bathrobe was low quality and stained as well. I had access to the fitness classes with my booking and I did a yoga class and spin. The yoga class was one of the worst I’ve ever done, it was 45 mins of very slow light stretches, the instructor was even instructing and doing the poses incorrectly. The spin class I did was virtual so no instructor which is ok but the actual class felt like it was something from the 80s. There’s a ‘restaurant’ that’s also like a school cafeteria. Options were jacket potato and panini. The actual spa area has a waiting area with heated stone beds to rest on, these are very uncomfortable and need a pillow on top, it’s not a natural position and you could hear everyone complaining about how uncomfortable they are. There’s also no toilet in the spa area, you have to go back through reception, through the first gate, then another one, through the restaurant to the bathroom. Coming back out there’s a button you have to press and reception have to open the gate, they’re around the corner and can’t see you and if no one’s there you’re left stuck waiting. The pool area is really nice. There are saunas in the locker rooms which are nice but if you’re going with your partner of the opposite sex, there isn’t a communal one to use together. The gym floor was decent with up to date machines. The receptionist in the morning Billie was very friendly and helpful. I had an Elemis facial which was really nice. If you’re looking for a really relaxing experience, you should probably go elsewhere but if you’re looking for a budget friendly spa day this could be it.
Had a great massage at the spa. Booked this experience in advanced and I was looking forward to it. Very relaxing massage & staff were very friendly & helpful especially at the restaurant. Struggled to find parking, a lot of cars parked over 2 spaces so could not fit in for a while. At the pool there were only 4 sun beds and roughly 6 chairs which weren't very comfortable to relax in. People left their towels on the chairs which meant there wasn't anywhere to relax apart from upstairs in the spa. Changing rooms were very dirty. Hair was everywhere. There is a separate sauna for both men and women but not 1 to go in together. The pool is nice but not very big. Jacuzzi was quite hit & miss as the bubbles were not consistent so more like a warm bath. The cafe had a lot of starchy meals, not any salads just as a side. Although the massage was really nice & good, the spa experience itself didn't equate. The experience seemed over priced for what was given.
Just what I needed after a weeks camping, kayaking and sailing holiday esp when it's 38° outside. Nice and quiet, pool big enough to swim in, great steam room and okay sauna Treatments were lovely, I had facial, hand, arm and leg massage. Felt very relaxed after the treatments but would have liked massage to last a lot longer, felt very quick. The setting of this spa is fabulous, vaulted underground swimming pool and lobby of spa facility was spectacular. Loved the heated loungers in spa area too. Will definitely be back.
My best friend and I were looking forward to enjoying a well earned afternoon of pampering and relaxation. Unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. We were greeted warmly enough, however there was very little guidance as to where everything was; a little more 'hosting' would have been appreciated. The pool area has far too few beds and when we finally found two, they were so uncomfortable that we decided to leave the pool area prematurely. The pool is nice, but the jacuzzi kept turning off at such regular intervals that we only stayed in for a minimal amount of time. My friend booked for a facial and back massage, which was enjoyable, made better by her lovely therapist. I was very disappointed with my back massage however. The therapist was polite and friendly, but should have asked me if I had any problem areas and how much strength I preferred. I have been in the hair and beauty industry for 40 years and would say more training is needed in this area. We came to Bannatyne on Fairfield as it's so local to where my friend lives. We concluded that this facility is a gym first and foremost, with the spa as an addition. We definitely will not return.
Ascetically pleasing spa and one of my favourites but gets boring after about two hours. It is a health club so be prepared for swimming classes to occur. The Swedish massages are great
Had a lovely afternoon spa offer with my friend this week and it was lovely. We used the pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room then went for our treatments. The hot beds to lie on before your treatments is a nice touch. I had a lovely massage and facial with Angel. We will definitely be back again.
Was very disappointing as after paying £135 as a present from my daughter we had to pay for our own towels and robes. We decided to have the towels as we had no choice and having travelled for almost 2 hours. We than find out that the towels were small and the jacuzzi spa was out of order. This was very important to my wife as she has a problem with her shoulders and neck. Than the treatment included a head massage which my wife did not get. Once inside we could not use the pool till after 11.15 as there was a class. The showers outside the steam room were freezing cold. All in all it was a night mare and when I complained I was offered a complimentary day at the spa. This is not really a solution as the 2 hour drive doesn't make it viable. They could have given us the towels and gowns as a gesture of good will Not Impressed. I also asked if we could have the day somewhere closer to home but was rejected.
Very disappointing - I rang up a few weeks ago to discuss a day spa pass for my friends birthday and it was explained to me that we could turn up on the day and purchase them. Yesterday me and my friend who had travelled an hour and a half to visit the spa turned up and went to purchase to day spa tickets, the lady on reception asked for ID, I showed my ID but explained that my friend did not bring hers with her, we was refused entry despite my friend offering to show a picture of both her passport driving license. I explained it was my friends birthday and that she had driven an hour and a half to come to the spa so she couldn’t simply pop home and get it, the lady did not seem to care and was very dismissive. I appreciate you have polices in place however you need to make your ID policy more clear on your website, none of this was mentioned to me on the phone when I rang & people don’t tend to bring there purse / ID to spa days . If someone doesn’t drive then you wouldn’t bring your passport to a spa day would you! This ruined my friends birthday and despite me recommending your spa several times in the past I won’t be doing it again or returning . Appalled at this service and situation and i will be emailing head office and taking this further.
Great relaxing spa day which was a birthday treat. Staff were friendly and treatment I had which was an extended massage also great. The only let down was quality of towels. I had to ask for mine to be changed as it was stained. Also they felt rough on the skin.
