Quality of food was alright. Prices were double and portion size was halved compared to chippys back in beautiful Yorkshire. That might be normal for Brighton/Hove though. Impressed they have good vegan options.
Good chips and tasty curry sauce. The prices seemed a little high, but I haven't bought fish and chips in the UK for a while so perhaps that's normal now. The service was friendly and pretty quick. Good selection of other items for those wanting something a bit different.Food: 5/5
One time we did take away and one time we ate in. Service was a bit of an experience both times. Food was delicious both times, especially recommend the curry sauce.Food: 5/5
I have just started work in hove . I've heard good things about bankers so today when I fancied a portion of chips for my lunch I thought ooh I will try bankers as its not far from where I work. I got back to work chips smells gorgeous when in actual fact they were absolutely awful . Really pale I colour . Half of them weren't cooked and they tasted of washing up liquid of some sort of cleaning product . I was so disappointed and hungry They went straight in the bin . Quite pricey too at 2.99 a regular portion . Will not be going back and definitely won't recommend
What has happened to Bankers Hove ? A year ago I gave them 3 star.. today they would have 0 if I could. Miserable staff , guy cooking does not say a word.. fish worst I've ever had.. batter absolutely awful. Chips just terrible. What a shame that this once great fish n chips shop that I have been visiting for years has fallen so low. I will NOT be returning. 10.11.22
Waited 15 minutes the night before to be greeted by a man soaking wet hands obviously just come out the toilet and get the worst portion of chips ever for £2.99 I expected at least a meals worth nah more like a kids portion. Anyway went in the next night and got offered a tray of chips from the glass heater all for the same price is this a joke or something second hand chips for the same price, it's okay my local chippy.from back home did the same at closing only they gave it away for free as it's going in the bin either way. Absolute disgrace of a chip shop you need better etiquette for a start.
I ordered via Just Eat but the wrong order arrived. The driver contacted his boss who advised me to accept the incorrect fishless fillet and then contact Bankers for a refund. After trying MANY times to call Bankers in Hove with no success, I went into the branch. It took a long time to explain the situation only for them to refuse a refund. I can however get one portion of fish and chips in the future. The delivery fee and service charge were not considered. Very disappointing. Also the portions are half the size of a proper chippy.

Delicious gluten free fish and chips available Monday and Tuesday I think. The batter was so crispy! The space is clean and bright; it's a nice spot to have lunch.
For me the best Fish and Chips place in Brighton.....amongst many of course! And pretty much tried them all. Rich history of doing what they do and it shows, and now they do Gluten Free options their superb quality fish and always crunchy and big PROPER chips are available to many more people. Excellent portions as well, just the perfect mix of old school fish and chips shop but keeping up with modern trends as well. Dietary restrictions: Excellent Gluten Free options on Mondays and Tuesdays.
