Booked this place because I wanted to stay somewhere in Dublin I'd be able to get some sleep and it was a very good choice. I stayed in a deluxe double room which was big and spacious and very clean. There is an option for a cooked breakfast which was also very nice. It is close to Dublin town although a taxi ride will set you back somewhere between €13-18 depending on exactly where you want to go. We also found the taxi service to be very efficient. Would definitely consider staying here again if it was available, feels much more homely than a hotel or even some other B&Bs I've stayed in.
Despite all the bad reviews I read here, I was grateful not to change my booking. We stayed here for a week and never had a single problem. Staff is extremely helpful and kind. We didn't get the breakfast while we stayed but even the smell in the morning was delicious. I could tell that breakfast is cooked fresh every morning I had a chance to have a small peak inside while looking for a staff member in breakfast time. I strongly recommend NOT to read all these bad reviews and enjoy your stay. Very close to the sea and bus stop for city center is only across the road.
The B&B is now converted to a shared accommodation. If you want to live with peace of mind and save your money then whatever you do, stay away from the property. This shared accommodation was earlier managed by Greendoor property management. There was an issue among the tenants of the property and Greendoor management refused to handle the situation and later we were being told that there contract with the Landlord has ended. Now a new management company "1st class Properties" started managing the company. By management I mean that they will only collect the rent and nothing else. They don't return the desposit of the tenants who left the property. This property is the worst experience I had since I came to Dublin. I have served my notice to vacate the property too but the 1st Class Properties is not acknowledging it as they don't want to return the deposit. I have contacted the RTB and raised the dispute. They sent me a phone number to discuss the matter. If you are a working person or a student and want to live in a clean and non toxic environment then don't come to this property. It is a nightmare. Attached are few pictures of what its like to be here.
Cleanliness not great room was roasting and everything rattled when the window was opened still awake at 3am and booked to get sleep for a ferry at 5 am. Over priced at 110 a night we paid through booking.com on a Friday night would have preferred if i booked a city hotel for same price and just got a taxi out as it is not too close to the ferry port either still 14 euro in a taxi about the same from the city !
We were in Dublin visiting family and were a bit concerned after reading previous reviews after we had booked it before checking them but I'm quite glad we didn't because I might have been put off. We had a lovely Clean & tidy room, we had paid extra to have the suite with own bathroom and we were actually very happy. The staff we saw were polite and friendly and the young girl did a great job with the breakfasts in the morning although we missed it this morning because I was a bit hungover and couldn't get up in time ‍ the mattress definitely isn't good and needs replacing. It left me with a bit of a bad back in the mornings and was a bit noisy and uncomfortable but otherwise it was great, we will definitely be staying here again next time we are visiting as long as the suite is available. Thanks Avoca see you next time
The bed was very comfortable. The shared bathroom left a little to be desired. There was no shower curtain or shower, so you had to either take a bath or use the hose sitting or squatting in the tub. There was also no towel or soap in the bathroom so every time you used it, you had 5obbring your own soap/towel to wash/dry your hands. But overall we had a lovely stay.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in room 4, very noisy as it's close to the road will be a problem If you're a light sleeper. Walls are thin which means you can hear your neighbours even when they're speaking at a normal level- not great especially when they're still talking at 2am. Good area to stay in. Only 25 mins to Dublin by car.
Pretty noisy in the morning, you can't sleep from 7 to 9 am. The mattress was very bad and there is mold in the bathroom/shower. Continental breakfast is the worst I had in a B&B in Ireland. We ordered via Booking and they totally scammed us when we tried to move somewhere else. They made us pay cash for all the days we planned, telling us that Booking would do the refund, but it was a lie.
Good location. Close to a bus stop which is about 24mins from the city centre. Water was cold in the shower and basin for all three days and nights. Not as clean as one would expect. Also, the heating system make a very loud noise all night which sounds like a tumble-drier.
This was not a value for money experience. The rooms were characterless and the house without comfort or welcome. The owners do not live on site and were never present during my stay. The breakfast was badly cooked using poor quality ingredients and had to be paid for on top of price of room- in a B&B! The breakfast was a basic Full Irish and nothing else- no cereals, fruit juice, marmalade or second cup of coffee. When I switched on one of the bedside lights it blue the circuit and all the lamps and TV went out. There were no smoke detectors in my room. At breakfast on Saturday the dining room curtains remained drawn. My duvet cover was stained. There was a filthy bath mat in the en suite and the stair carpet was dirty and stained. There were two bottles of cheap shampoo and a small tablet of soap in the room but no shower gel. They do advertise that toiletries are provided. I don't know where they get their four star rating from and it is very misleading. It was expensive but felt like I was staying in a hostel. I would not recommend Avocado Lodge to anyone. I only gave the one star because I couldn't post a review without a star.
