I've always been extremely satisfied with the treatment that my family and I have received at Avicenna. I was treated successfully for digestive problems and post natal issues. My daughter was treated successfully for eczema, which did not recur after the treatment. As with all treatments, the level of commitment and intention that the patient brings to the table is just as important as the medicine itself. If you go all in, and move through the levels of discomfort that may be required of you during accupuncture and herbal medicine treatments, you're more likely to see the results you desire. It's a two way process. Definitely recommend it.
I am writing some 20 years later from my experience of being treated with Chinese medicine for psoriasis at the Avicenna clinic. The medicine was more expensive than my rent at the time, however I was desperate to heal. The medicine was foul, inpalatable, made me gag and throw up. I was told to take it three times a day. After 3 months of this gruelling ordeal, my skin got worse, not better. I was having to take cold baths in the middle of the night to stop the itching. I called Mazin, who told me to keep taking the medicine and it would get better. I can clarify that when my psoriasis did eventually heal years later, it did not need to get worse before it got better. I can't help but feel angry that there was no interest in checking I was ok coming off the very strong medicine. I was given no idea what was in the strong potion. They were clearly only interested in receiving my money. I urge anyone looking into this practise for Chinese medicine to look elsewhere for a more holistic practice, or seek a qualified nutritionist's advice. UPDATE ON RESPONSE: Yes, I had a different surname as I have since got married. My main issue was not the taking of the medicine, it was the lack of interest from the practise in following up my severe reaction.
Amazing results for ulcerative colitis. I had given up hope of getting my condition under control and Mazin was recommended to me. My symptoms cleared up after about one month and are now better than they have ever been. I feel so much better and it’s all down to this clinic. They are caring and informative and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
I came for acupuncture with Virginia Wood to help with insomnia and frequent urination. I think she did too strong a treatment on a first session with someone with a dysregulated nervous system. I had an emotional breakdown following the treatment and have still not fully recovered almost two weeks later. Virginia did offer a free treatment but I felt too traumatised to go back. Be careful with Acupuncture and ask to have treatments explained to you before you agree to proceed.
AVOID, Terrible experience. I have suffered from eczema for years, i felt hopeless and desperate and the consultant at the AVICENNA Clinic guaranteed me that my eczema would improve and eventually disappear . I saw improvements in the beginning and I was so happy, but after a while the treatment seemed to have no effects and it has not improved my eczema at all. I spent thousands of pounds here as the clinic insisted that it would improve , and all that money is gone now. I still suffer from eczema and I know how debilitating it can be but I would not recommend going here .
Saw Mazin for acne. First formula I liked and saw improvements which i now think was due to something else i was taking for my liver, but the second formula really upset my gut and caused other unpleasant symptoms that were brushed off as “stress”, and worsened my skin. Things that I thought were behind my acne were dismissed as “fiction” like a typical GP doc would. I’ve since done tests with a naturopathic doc which have shown what I suspected and more and doing well with her protocol to tackle my root causes. The Chinese herbs are also incredibly expensive.
Spent thousands, saw no difference in my skin condition. Very expensive for it to not work at all. Good dietary advice, but you could find that advice for free online if you do your own research.
Calm, peaceful and welcoming space. Virginia helped me with my IBS and lack of periods. I am so grateful to have this place near by. I highly recommend
Very knowledgeable practitioners and saw immediate improvement in my symptoms - they are expensive but well worth it. I would highly recommend Virginia.
It wasn't helpful. After two months I started having a negative reacting to the treatment. Very expensive for what it is.
