The Auld Smiddy Inn is a restaurant & bar serving the very best of Scottish ingredients, prepared and cooked with pride and a wee bit of Scottish fun.

Story

Established in 2008, we are a family run business in the heart of Pitlochry.

We have a long time team of professionals who will ensure you have a great visit. We sell the highest quality food prepared by passionate and enthusiastic chefs. We use where possible locally sourced ingredients from the best of Scottish suppliers. We have a full bar service selling a selection of malts, gins & beer, lager & real ale. you will find us in the Michelin Guide to eating out in pubs for the last six years - this is one of the only unbiased guides out there, where you have to be invited to enter.

We have great out side space with seating at tables for 40 and we are the only restaurant to get the sun all day (when its out - remember this is Scotland!) until it goes down at the end of day.

Enjoy a spot of lunch with friends or a bottle of vino and watch the world go by, then at night come in for our early pre theatre Table d'hote menu or full evening menu. Which ever one you choose we trust you will not be disappointed. End your meal with a delicious liqueur coffee or a wee malt.

Stopped into The Auld Smiddy Inn in Pitlochry during our travels and really enjoyed the experience.nIt’s a lovely, relaxed pub with a welcoming atmosphere — a few locals sitting at the bar, some classic 80s and 90s tunes playing softly in the background, and a nice cosy feel all round.nnI treated myself to a pint of Stewart’s 80 Shilling, and it was absolutely spot on — rich, smooth, full of flavour, and perfectly poured. Exactly what you want from a proper Scottish pub.nnService was friendly and laid-back, and the whole place just had that nice balance between old Highland charm and casual modern comfort. If you’re passing through Pitlochry and fancy a proper pint in a genuinely welcoming spot, I’d definitely recommend a visit to the Auld Smiddy Inn.
The only place a Smiddy was ever going to eat when coming to Pitlochry nFriday night pre race fuel with a venison pie for myself and vegetarian wellington for the other half.nBoth really enjoyed our meals, even if i would call my pie more a ‘stew with a lid’, but I’m told that this is a Scottish pie so what do I know.nThe branded gin was also a banger so recommended you try that if you can, and also to book a table ahead as it was busy when we went.
I was staying for work in a nearby hotel Westlands of Pitlochry, who does not offer dinner, so wandered the short walk to here.nIt had been snowing shortly before I arrived, so the feel and atmosphere upon arrival was wonderful and magical. There was a fireplace on and the other guests were relaxed and also enjoying the place.nnI was quickly seated and given a menu. The order for food and drinks was quick, as was the dinner service.nnI enjoyed a large beef burger, with a nice pint of Cold Town larger. Perfect spot for a spot for either a relaxed drink or full meal. Thank you to the team for the warm welcome
I just returned from a short advy to Pitlochry. There we popped into this pub-restaurant. The place has such a rustic and cozy charm, with its warm wooden decor and cabin-like feel—like stepping into an old-style Scottish retreat. My boyfriend and I had a lovely time, enjoying a couple of glasses of wine while soaking in the cozy atmosphere.nnThe food was absolutely delicious! We had the burger and the seafood tagliatelle, both of which were excellent. The service was very efficient, with waiters checking on us frequently, which shows how fast-paced and well-managed the place is. However, at times, it felt a bit rushed, as different waiters came to take our order before we were ready.nnOther than that, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend it for a warm and inviting meal in Pitlochry.
Fantastic bar/restaurant in Pitlochry. Lovely menu, really attentive waiting staff, good drinks. I’ll definitely be back. The Haggis, Neeps & Tatties starter was so good but I forgot the photo. The chicken burger was real good too, no room for dessert. Wife loved the venison burger.
