Unique in Scotland. There were thousands of townships in Scotland and across Europe up until 1700. It's where most people lived. This museum is the last remaining one. It ceased to be a township in 1965 and is now maintained by a charity as an open air museum. This is a site that requires careful investigation to understand the specialness of it. If you can meet the curator, Bob, you'll get a fantastic and overwhelming version of the story of the place. This is a village worth supporting for its major and unique contribution to European history.

Open air museum. A farming township where time has stood still. Interesting place. The supplied map and guide book shares lots of the history.

Interesting and good e guide, but could have incorporated some 'living' exhibits (light some fires etc)
