Relaxed atmosphere and dog friendly. Situated in an elevated position just up from the harbour. The food was priced well for Porthleven with many option being priced below a tenner. A strange menu with most options being based on a Brazilian Barbeque. I had a steak option which was just £9.00. It comes with a choice of side so I chose Brazilian Dirty beans. Didn’t look too impressive see photo so The order of chips was definitely needed to bolster the meal. That aside the food was good and as mentioned priced well. Well worth a visit.
Beautiful food excellently cooked!! Flavours nothing short of yummy! Def try the chips they are stunning and genuinely delicious seafood! Excellent atmosphere as well!!!
Easy to miss if you're around the harbour as The Ship and Harbour Inn are easily the most prominent pubs; however, just 3 minute walk up the hill will get you here. We found it a lot quieter and more relaxed during the day with seating inside, outside on a raised terrace and across the road in a large car park area. Drinks range was large with 3 cask looks like they sometimes have 4 a range of keg lager & cider, spirits including a vast range of Tarquins gin and soft drinks, all alongside the expected peanuts, crisps etc. The food was excellent, fresh and incredibly good value for money, the steak, bacon, egg, cheese and olive sandwich, with chips and salad was around £7...I would have expected to pay nearer £12 in all honesty. The fish and chips was around £12 with fresh, flakey fish and crispy batter that wasn't soaked in oils. The Jerk turkey was around £10 and was delicious. Everyone we spoke to was welcoming and genuinely friendly, with them remembering us from previous day's which made a real impression considering how many different faces they must see each day. Highly recommend the short walk to go here.
Friendly relaxed pub with outdoor seating and ocean views. Indoors, pub is modern, clean and warm. Outdoor seating is plentiful and allows views over historic cottages and out to sea but not over harbour. Warm and sunlit in afternoons unlike some places on other side of harbour. Staff are friendly & helpful. A range of drinks are available; beers are mostly chain brands but a couple of local options are available. Good coronavirus safety arrangements. Table service ordering by mobile phone is available.
We stay on holiday often near here and sometimes go to this pub as it is in walking distance from where we stay,a local told us it is not tourist friendly so if you are local fine, but my family always find it a bit frosty !
Whats happened to Atlantic, original owners have left! Unfortunately, new folk ,sad to say appears,to have no interest in the pub,no food,no atmosphere, no warm happy welcome, always loved Atlantic on our numerous holiday visits to Porthleven nowadays that's not the case
Enjoyed a drink here after a days walking on the coastal path. Warm welcome. Worth exploring outside of the harbour area
A great place to buy a hearty meal or a drink from their large selection of draught beers and lagers. The friendly staff make you want to come back again, and I will be. It is well worth the walk up Institute Hill, on a nice day you can sit outside to enjoy the fresh sea air panoramic view.
Stunning local pub on the outskirts of a beautiful fishing town, very welcomed, extremely dog friendly and food is thoroughly recommended
Stay in porthleven every year - Love the pub and where it is situated - only recently tried the Sunday lunch and it’s Absolutely amazing - I would say the best from the other restaurants in the village x shall be back
