The store is situated in a modern building and offers a spacious and well-lit shopping environment. Inside, customers can find a wide variety of groceries, fresh produce, bakery items, meat and poultry, dairy products, frozen foods, and household items such as cleaning supplies, laundry products, and personal care items. Asda Birkenhead also has a pharmacy, where customers can fill prescriptions and purchase over-the-counter medications. The store also offers a range of services, such as photo printing, home delivery, and Click and Collect, where customers can order items online and pick them up at the store. The supermarket has ample parking, both for cars and bicycles, and is accessible to those with disabilities. Asda Birkenhead is open seven days a week, with opening hours from 7am to 11pm, except on Sundays, when it opens at 10am and closes at 4pm.
Arrived at asda and downstairs parking was full so decided to park on the upper level the main door was shut so we had to use the lift on the stairwell but this lift was out of order so we had to carry the pram with are 1 year old down the stairs there were 2 men on the stairs as we were carrying the pram down as we passed them I realised that they were taking what I assume was crack as there were lighters and tin foil with brown lines on it I told the security people about it but they were still there when I got back I decided to collect car myself and pick my partner and kids up from taxi rank think I will give this store a miss in the future
A really decent supermarket this is. Helpful staff, shelves always replenished, customer service is responsive too. I lost a pair of quality gloves and they were there next time i popped in. One slight gripe was that they were selling a gorgeous sweet tasting Wensledale & Cranberry speciality cheese that I used to buy every time I shopped there and it was a good seller. They just stopped selling it for no reason. Ah well. Pharmacy is good as well.
Asda birkenhead Lovely staff member Fran was so so helpful when i lost my bag an phone. She was so helpful. Above an beyond her job role . Thank you
The range of food is excellent. The in-store pizza deli is highly recommended. The electric-charging points in the garage have been broken for weeks. Clearly not a priority to get them fixed or improved, despite the superior chargers functioning for years at Tesco and Lidl.
Fri 27.01.23 .,11.45 Heating on full blast ,store really warm ,only 3 x tills open , ques down those aisles ,shelves empty , no shopping trolleys, no shopping baskets to be had , Had to walk out as store was just to hot and with no shopping baskets or trollies to be had ,could not stand it . With no biscuits , pet food , Just appalling that the management obviously were not monitoring tills ,
This store hardly ever has any baskets at the entrance, customers who want a basket have no choice but to either try and get one from the self service checkout areas where there’s often many customers waiting and it’s difficult to squeeze through the queue of people waiting to checkout or try and find one at the staffed checkouts. I can only assume that, for whatever reason, this is a deliberate Store policy, perhaps to encourage use of trolleys and potentially buy more products? Update 31 March 2023 - Unfortunately little seems to have changed since my original review, I visited the store today and I still had to go searching for a Basket, in the end I just left and went to Iceland instead. Update 14 April 2023 - I had to visit the store today as I couldn’t readily buy the product I wanted elsewhere locally. As usual there were no Baskets at the entrance but this time there weren’t even any Baskets in the Self Service area. I politely asked a member of staff if there were any Baskets ANYWHERE to which she replied “Probably not, they keep getting nicked’. I actually found that quite funny but I guess it conclusively answers my original question, Asda Birkenhead Grange Road really doesn’t have any Baskets
Normally I find asda a good shop to do my shopping I'm in here quite alot, but there's never more than 2 checkouts open just leaving the self service with long ques with both 2 checkouts and self service have waiting 25 minuets to pay for my shopping before, also lately when I go which is usually 10.30-11am so still early most of the things I go for are out of stock, and when I ask staff to check the back they just look up onto of the shelf and say no we haven't got it, it's so frustrating!!
Awful place to shop. Came in today with my daughter. I am pregnant so I used a small trolley so I didn't need to carry a basket, I had 8 items in my trolley, As I went to queue up the queues where literally everywhere, coming from all different directions. I started queueing then a queue from another direction formed and they all pushed infront of me literally ramming their trolleys into people. It was carnage so I tried to use the other self service to be told I couldn't use a trolley there, so I went to the cigarette counter to pay I waited nearly 20 minutes in that queue to get to the front and the woman said no you can't pay for this here go and queue up like everyone else, its 5 items or less here. So I tried to explain that I'm pregnant and there is people shuving trolleys into each other I keep getting pushed out the queue can I please just pay here I've waited my turn. She still said no. There was no sign saying 5 items of less, so I walked away and said to my daughter this is stressful isn't it and the woman the the cigarette counter shouted back 'what have you just said' I said I was talking to me daughter! For her to give me a snotty look. In the end I had to just leave my trolley because I literally couldn't pay for my items no matter how much i tried, that lady who works on your cigerete counter needs a lesson in customer service her attitude was disgusting I came out of there crying and extremely overwhelmed. I will never ever shop here again, what happend to abit of human compassion and being kind to one another.
As far as ASDA's go, fairly average.... Asked where the baskets are kept and was told at the checkouts surely baskets being at the front of the store would make more sense than leaving them all at "the end"
