I visited here for the first time and ended up having both lunch and dinner. The food was simply amazing, being vegetarian I could only order salad, sandwich and Tacos, they were all delicious. Had never come across roasted squash in a salad and it was very good, the portions were smaller though and I was left craving for more :nThe service was really good too, the ambience very cosy
Ideal place to stop either side of a visit to Scilly. Very welcoming relaxing staff who were eager to make us all comfortable. Lovely rooms especially enjoyed the in room bath, delicious breakfast and a most enjoyable stay.
Can I start by saying I love this place! I have been coming here for years. Firstly as a guest and later as a local, popping in to enjoy the sofa and fire and a warming pot of tea after a bracing seaside stroll. It has always been a little quirky, and that has been its charm.nHowever, over the last year or so it seems to have lost its way. Staff turnover, particularly of the general manager position, is noticeable - it clearly is not a pleasant role to be in? They seem painfully understaffed. There are frequent issues with the computer system. Chairs are now threadbare, the whole place, despite the hard work of staff to keep it clean and tidy, looks distinctly shabby. not the shabby chic kind but more of the unloved kind. I don't know who the owners are but it is clear there is little or no investment in the building upkeep, updating furnishings or bringing in more staff to help.nA special and very positive mention has to go to Jane. She has been on staff for years. She is warm, welcoming, kind, helpful and above all else, she is there day in and day out, working long hours it seems, very often on her own.She is the glue of this place, and I sincerely hope the owners value her and treat her accordingly. Without her the place would clearly fall apart.nMy advice - if you are looking for relaxation and are not bothered by shabby, spend time here. As I do. But be warned, it is not quite as lovely as the website photos depict. Message to the owners - This hotel is worth some investment, a decent paint job, and staffing up. And give Jane a medal!! she is a superstar. Staff like that are one in a million.
Really cozy warm atmosphere. The lunch combo is a perfect size with a nice selection of yummy sandwiches at a good price. The service was exceptional, will be back if I’m in the area again.
Quirky rooms and hotel, lovely food and drink options and opportunities. Brilliant location. But be warned if you sleep light not in any fault of the hotel the road outside can be noisy after hours from local pubs and general goings on. If I get a chance to return would maybe look for room away from room or higher in building.nBut other than that brilliant place.
