Me and my wife recently viewed a few gyms in Colchester as we were looking for a place to get fit. All the gyms we saw had great equipment and the prices were similar, however the team at Anytime fitness stood out from the rest. It wasn't just their knowledge, it was how welcoming they were. They understood our nervousness in joining a gym as we are both unfit, and made us feel at home. We have now joined and enjoyed our first training session. If you're a newby, we definitely recommend giving this place a try.
East Colchester Anytime: Chris Cris? - who cares Christian Gormley, that guy and Dean, top level blokes, honestly. Really welcoming, very professional and knowledgeable. Best environment, chilled out. I really can't rate this branch high enough. Shower rooms are always spot on as well, machines always in excellent working condition. Quality place with quality staff.
I recently lost my ring at AF colchester east and the team there were incredible, they went above and beyond to help me search the gym and then checked cctv for me. Hopefully it turns up soon. They even checked in on me the next morning because my fob hadn’t worked! No fault of theirs - I just needed to renew my membership with the branch I'm a member at The time, effort and care the team put in to help me even though i was just visiting is so highly appreciated, more than i could have hoped for. Thank you all!! It means a lot!
Good gym. Clean and rarely crowded. Has all the equipment you would need to get in a good workout.
I was never into gym and stuff like that but this gym was always such a nice and positive space with awesome facilities that I have started going 5 times a week. Another great thing is that they are open 24/7, so you can find the best time for you. Highly recommended and they have very friendly and helpful staff.
I have been using Anytime Fitness Colchester East for over a year. I am terrified of gyms and working out in the presence of others. I have lost over 11 stone but still feel a little self conscious despite the best efforts of Robin The Manager and Personal Trainer. This gym is perfect as it has quiet periods and. busier Ines allowing you to find your personal training zone. I have found other members friendly and supportive without being intrusive or show offs either. The private changing rooms set it apart from other low cost 24 hour gyms in the area. Robin has recently taken over as Manager and he is passionate about health and fitness and has great ideas to move forward and help members achieve their goals. It's well worth a look and visit and they have trial passes too. Take that first step into this gym and look forward to a healthier, fitter you. I have and it works.
Top gym facility and even better staff!
As a gym newbie, I found the staff friendly and helpful, taking time to explain the various machines. 24hr access is amazing and fits well with my lifestyle. Also the fees are really reasonable too. All the machines can be used with the LFConnect fitness app to track all your stats, which is great for a geek like me :
I started at this gym about 2 years ago and I wouldn’t change to another one if someone paid me to. They have great facilities, individual showers and toilets, a wide variety of cable machines and a good sized free weight area and a good choice of cardio machines. They also have 2 studios upstairs, one which regularly has classes running including Yoga, Pilates, Spin, Zumba, Ab Attack and Legs Bums and Tums to name a few. Since their refurbishment in August the gym has a much more contemporary look with the addition of a sled track. The good thing about anytime fitness east Colchester is that they are always looking at ways to improve and welcome any suggestions from members. They have a great, friendly staff who are on hand to help with any queries you may have and will give you advice on how to get the most out of your workout.
NB This review is from when I was a member, over a year ago. I'd advise potential members to have a look around and speak to the staff as many things may have changed, hopefully for the better! A compact and bijou gym in a less-than-salubrious part of Colchester although the area is gentrifying, slowly. Standout features include 24hr access and LF Connect 'smart' equipment. 1 medium sized studio upstairs with 'Virtual' class projector, along with a very small one. Main gym has good size free weights area but the previous incarnation of the building as an office precludes the addition of many fixed machines. Cons for me included the small car park, inadequate cycle storage and crucially, the incessant and over-loud music that apparently couldn't be managed locally, only by head office. The music totally overrode one's own phone/mp3; especially bad at night when there was less ambient noise. The lighting didn't get more muted after dark either a good or bad thing depending on your preference I suppose. Convenient for the Hythe area, this has small shops including a Co-Op grocery store and a takeaway nearby. Other possibilities in the vicinity include Bannatyne's Health Club and the Essex University Gym.
