Last time I am booking with them. They wait for you to land and call them before they even leave the agency. Average wait for their drivers at the Airport is more than 30 mins, easier to pre book an Uber.
Worst experience, i pre booked a cab to luton airport and was in contact with driver prior to departure, however once i landed got stranded with two young children, when i called to find out they said they cant get in contact with a driver and left me there. Will NEVER use them again
Driver arrived a bit late. He complained all the way through my journey about traffic. Cab was quite filty and dusty- looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. When I got to my destination, the driver questioned why I paid him a low fare!!!. I had to explain to him patiently that I had agreed on a price prior to booking with the cab service the previous day. Just a horrible service overall.
I have given Abbey Cars 5 stars for excellent service and this is why: I recently booked a taxi with Essex Cabs for my airport drop off. I spoke to the driver the day before and all the details we're confirmed. At 4.15am my taxi was due to arrive but he didn't. I tried to call several times but no answer. I waited for about 10 minutes while sending a number of texts but no reply. At this point I began to panic as it was half 4 in the morning and I had no taxi to take me and my family to the airport. So I called Abbey Cars and they were fantastic our driver John, came within 10 minutes of my call, he got us to the airport ontime, he even arranged for our pick up taxi on our return. Our return driver was an hour early and was in contact with me from the moment my plane had landed. Very friendly and very reasonably priced, I could not ask for a better service. Will be using Abbey cars in future. Thank you so much for such a reliable service!!
Wasnt going to bother with a review , but seeing as the guy my missus spoke to this morning was so blunt when ringing for a quick cab price, here it is. Last summer going on holiday, booked a cab to Gatwick, we told them 5 people and a baby and luggage per person. Initial vehicle to get there was way too small , struggled and made it with luggage crammed in. On the flight home , cab turns up , different driver in an even smaller car ...... we had to allow only 3 adults and the baby in the car , whilst I took the train home with my 80 year old nan-in law and most of thr luggage , nice 2 hour journey that was for her after the flight and such. She was a nervous wreck following it I rang the office during the above and they were if no help at all and just blame the last person in the office who was on sift pretty much, not exactly helpful for my family. When your stranded because of their mistakes , noone cars about the excuse , just find and answer maybe .... Its their office who cant organise anything correctly and do not attempt to help put right when they make massive mistakes. The drivers were both very friendly and did anything within their means to help us out. There is a reason this cab firm has a majority rating of 1 star , this is just another one to the collection I guess.
Great service!! Glen was our driver and probably the nicest & friendliest guy you’ll ever meet!! We arranged for him to pick us up too and arrived on the dot.
Booked on fireworks night so aware that we had to wait 25 mins for a cab as advised ... but turned out to be a 50 min wait and we missed ths fireworks unfortunately.
Single worst taxi experience of my life. If you can escape from hell only by means of taxi and someone hands you "Abbey Cars" number, commit yourself to the nearest pit of fire. Ordered taxi at 19:00 on hottest day of the year. Told it will take 30 minutes and be £8, fine. Make way out of tesco after waiting 30 minutes with shopping and 3 year old son in tow. Sit in swealtering heat for 15 minutes. I ring "Abbey cars" and the nice lady says my taxi will be 5 minutes. Phone battery is at 6% and son begining to sweat. 30 minutes elaps. Talk to nice lady again, she says it's delayed due to "choka blocked" traffic, want to give benefit of the doubt but check Google maps, there is no traffic. 1 hour passes, phone on 2%. Panicking at this point as I would be completely stuck in the middle of Waltham Abbey with my 3 year old without anyway to communicate with anyone, and did I mention it's the hottest day of the year. Plead with the lady on the phone that I have a 3 year old son and my phone is about to die, ask her to please just tell me the truth about how long the car will take. "The car will be 5 minutes I promise I'm trying to get the car to you asap". Wait another 15 minutes for it to arrive, completing a total of 2.5 hours. Icing on the cake is that the driver decided to round up my fair to £10, the audacity.
For Airport collection avoid!!! I booked an Abbey car to collect me and my two young children from Gatwick airport at 7am on a Wednesday, I explained we were travelling back on a long haul flight and I was anxious we would be collected on time. I was assured the driver would be checking by flight progress and would arrive on time. The driver turned up an hour late and clearly had no intention of ever turning up on time, he was quite open about the fact he was tying this pick up in with a drop off which was for a much later time at Gatwick. We set off and less than five minutes later he pulled into McDonalds and made us wait in the car while he went to the loo. We were travelling to the outer edge of North London. I asked him which way he planned to go round the M25 and he replied to my horror that he was planning to drive through London and the Blackwall tunnel at 9am on a weekday! The journey via M25 would have taken an hour; his route through London took us two and a half painful hours. He did not have a working sat. nav and spent a lot of time driving while looking at his phone balanced on his lap. He took multiple calls without a handsfree while driving until I gently reminded him this was a criminal offence. He also drove round in circles in Lewisham clearly lost. A horrendous experience. Avoid this firm.
