Flats to rent for the over 55's. Two storey building built circa 1976 comprises mostly single occupancy Studio type apartments. This is a living/bedroom in which most people have their bed at the narrowerer end of the room. There's ample space for a single bed, adequate space for a three quarter 4' whereas a standard double bed leaves only about 12" either side of the bed. Living area is reasonably spacious but if you're bringing existing furniture check your measurements carefully. There's a central heating radiator under the living room window. The apartment has an entrance hallway with smoke alarm. Off this is the shower room with handbasin and toilet and a small electric towel rail. Small storage cupboard for towels etc. Off the living/bedroom is a decent size storage cupboard which in my case I've turned into a walk in wardrobe. There's still plenty of space for your vacuum, ironing board, miscellaneous bits etc. Also off the living/bedroom is a separate kitchen with sink and floor and wall drawers/cupboards. Space for a 50cm oven and a space for an under worktop fridge. Many people use the oven space for a fridge/freezer and rely on a Microwave and/or prepared food deliveries. In addition to the Studios, there are a few one bedroom apartments. These are much more spacious but are let ONLY to couples. As far as the building is concerned, there is an entrance foyer with key fob entry and electronic entry phone system. The manager's office, a spacious and well kept resident's lounge, lift to the first floor etc. There is a separate laundry room with professional quality front load washing machine and separate tumble dryer. There's a fenced outside drying area. Separate bin rooms upstairs and downstairs. On the first floor is a small hair dresser area, well patronised by the ladies. Very pleasant gardens no smoking and a small greenhouse. The lawn areas are cut regularly and several residents join in gardening activities. There is a small but quite well stocked library of books and jigsaws etc. There is ample car parking for residents and legitimate visitors. Your own apartment is, of course, completely private but social activities are: an afternoon tea club most days and a 'bacon sandwich' morning once a month. Residents organise Summer barbecues bring your own meat and drink. Finally there is generally a Bingo session on Friday afternoons. It's very important to understand that your rent paid monthly on the 1st includes the facilities, it includes all heating and hot water, lawn mowing and exterior window cleaning plus general cleaning of the public areas, the services of the Manager and the benefit of emergency pull cords with 24 hours a day response. In addition to your rent, you are responsible for your own electricity bill and your own Council Tax. This particular site is directly opposite the hospital. There's no A&E but there is a 24 hour emergency consultation service. Nearest ATM cash machine is in the hospital foyer which is open 8 until 8 every day. There's a GP surgery within easy walking distance and a Pharmacy next door to it. A Lidl supermarket is close by and a 24hr shop/filling station. There's a good daytime bus service into town or the Anchor Retail Park nothing at all to do with Anchor Hanover, it just happens to be called that.
