I wanted to go for drinks with a friend, when this man named Mark at the front of Amber-claiming he is the "head bouncer" demanded we buy a bottle. This man was at an exalted level of rudeness, essentially making it clear he was going to fight. I don't put the word fight in delicate. We were simply asking the other gentlemen at the door questions about the place before agreeing to purchase a bottle, when this man Mark belligerently approached us with contempt. I've gone out countless times in Toronto, almost every weekend-and I can candidly say, I have never been treated this badly. The only explanation I can come up with, would be the fact that this man may have been racial profiling, otherwise this is inexplicable and inexcusable, in my opinion.
Never again. Worst customer service. Bad attitude towards clients. Manipulative and full of lies. My experience at Amber was the worst so far in Toronto. While trying to get to Amber at around 11pm on Saturday night, the gentleman at the door insisted that we take a table and bottle service as the place is at capacity, so we agree with no issues and walk in only to find out that the place is almost empty. Nevertheless, as agreed with the gentleman and the manager we got bottle service despite the emptiness of the place. Surprisingly, at around 1am, our waitress asked me to buy another bottle if we want to stay, which was shocking and disrespectful to say the least. You do not force your customers specially when you have lied to them at entrance and they are already spending lots of money, or else you ask them to leave!! So of course I ask the lady to get us the check as we did not like the attitude of the staff nor the request that came through. The check bill took 30 minutes to come in, and of course now the waitress is saying "you know what, you can enjoy the rest of the night here"!!! but of course, its only 30 minutes before you shut down! so why the hell would you treat your clients like that and have such an attitude! The place is not the best, music was average, and the crowed wasnt the best. I checked with the group of three people on the table next to us, and they had the same issue, and they just wanted to finish their bottle and get out of this place as they fell into the same trap while getting in. Of course, now we understand why the place wasn't at capacity, and definitely there were people going in and just standing at the bar with no table or bottle service, with more people in their group than ours and less females if that was a requirement. But I guess those were the regulars, and we were the new comers that they can take advantage of. No wonder their returning customer base is not growing. Never again Amber!
Great spot, not the cheapest but it's Yorkville after all great and friendly service. Kinda a small place but they got a nice patio for the summer and is also heated. Lots of places to sit, they play really good music and is always a great time, no fights and no drama. What everyone goes out to get away from
We went there with few friends to get a table and the doorman was a short middle eastern man. He was very rude to us. He told us they don't have any space although while we were there he was letting other people go in. This place is not worth is wait and attitude of the doorman.
Best Bar in Toronto, never had a bad night there, the staff are always helpful and polite, Cant wait to go back when Im in town next.
This place is so chic! What a great little hidden gem for those who wish to be seen in the right places.
Great spot to hang out for a few drinks, gets packed at 12 midnight
The go-to swanky champagne & vodka bad in Yorkville.
Too packed on weekends ...
