My husband and I have just spent 2 nights at this hotel and were pleasantly surprised. Our room No.10 was lovely. It was clean and warm, the bed so very comfortable and the bathroom with its shower and bath clean and welcoming. The buffet breakfast delicious and well cooked. The staff were friendly and professional. Will hopefully be back very soon.
Visited for a wedding reception but did not stay overnight. The reception room was bright and airy and well laid out. The service was excellent and staff very friendly and efficient. Only down points would be that; the cutlery was very worn and in need of replacement. Knives so blunt that you had to tear the food rather than being able to cut it. The other disappointment was the bar. There were four pumps available, all lager. No real ale on pump/tap,unforgivable for an hotel in a town with its own brewery and no cider on tap. Apart from that, a pleasant enough venue.
Unfortunately this hotel is starting to feel outdated. Rooms need a lick of paint, no water pressure in the shower and terrible WiFi. When working away you just expect this as a given for a hotel these days... the food offering was poor and the quality was also down since my last visit. The staff were very helpful and did there best.Rooms: 2/5
The half-eaten threadbare carpet absolutely stank of stale smoke and was so disgusting we did not even leave our bag on the floor out of fear of our stuff being eaten by whatever creature was eating the carpet. Windows are rotten with no double glazing. Absolutely disgusting and they charge £119 for this! Even the reception staff laughed when I showed them the photos - they were very helpful and said they’d contact the manager for a refund, but it’s now 2 weeks later and I’ve had an email from the manager but no refund agreed. I have never seen a hotel room as bad as this - see photos
The loveliest and most helpful staff. I ended up getting to the hotel very late last Friday and they went above and beyond to help me out. Wonderful Reception and Managerial Staff.
I stayed here for 1 night and it was lovely. Lovely location, building, accommodation, staff, everything. I look forward for a chance to come back. My only constructive feedback would be that the breakfast was not the best - as a veggie my options were limited on the menu which is fine, but the serving sizes were very small and not adjusted to the fewer items I were able to pick.
Checked in went to room to find all windows wide open room freezing and stinking of cigarette smoke along with the damp on the walls went to reception and moved rooms second room clean and spacious in need of tlc but OK only problem was it was cold, food in restaurant was randomly priced as were the portions, service is poor as staff have other dutys and are too busy think they may have forgotten key to hospitality
Lovely little hotel in the centre of Alton. Very quiet and friendly staff - what more do you want?Rooms: 4/5
Pleasant hotel but in need of some love and care, it is set near the high street so a good location. Our bed was a bit soft. Water pressure in the shower was fine. Dinner was a disappointment, pizza was small and from frozen, no side salad or chips. Other meals looked ok however some did complain too. Room plus breakfast was on the expensive side. The beer tasted alright. The wine didn’t and prices were reasonable. Service was good, staff were genuinely friendly and helpful.
Clean spacious room. Only provides one set of towels so have to go chasing for another. Nice shower. Buffet breakfast is OK when it has been sitting under a lamp for a while. Bar service slow as the staff also doubles up as the receptionist. Choice of bubbly is limited.Rooms: 4/5
