I can't comment on the rooms because I was here for a funeral wake. It's a nice place. From entering the door it appears very well looked after. We used the large room at the back and it too was nice. Decent bars and staff. A buffet was supplied which was very neatly displayed. Food was good quality. All in all a decent place.Service: 5/5
We were attending a wake at Alma Lodge, the room was perfect. Very calm, clean and managed brilliantly by staff. Food was lovely and displayed well. The event manager on the day 8/08/2024 could not have been more helpful and personable. My daughter has significant allergies and he went out of his way to speak to the chef and coordinate some food for her. This meant so much to us as a family who often struggle eating out at places together. It was a perfect venue for a calm and relaxed wake and the staff were absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond. Thank you
We got a double bed/twin bed room for myself, my husband, and our son. The room was spacious and the beds were decent in comfort. Our only issue with the room was that the wifi was very spotty and often dropped for minutes at a time. We mentioned this to the staff and they basically told us there's nothing we can do and nobody has ever mentioned any issues to them. Internet is very important to my family, as this is the only way for us to communicate to our family and work. The room also got SO hot!!! There is no AC, just a small desk fan that is supplied. Something to note: we traveled here in August, and the temperature got up to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Also to note, there is no elevator. That wasn't an issue for us, but I just want to make sure others are aware that may require one. We also ate breakfast on Sunday and Monday. Sunday, there was a buffet and it was really really nice. Monday, because there were only 7 guests, you have to order what you want and they bring it out to you plated. It was so bad, I honestly believe it was leftovers from the day prior. The bacon was so hard, it seemed as if it could break the plate, the scrambled eggs were very mushy, and the sausage seemed burnt and hard on the outside. We also ate Sunday lunch and it was amazing as well! Everything was perfect and delicious. Sunday's food DEFINITELY was much better than Monday. From what I've been told by the front staff, the restaurant is only open Sunday. We were really disappointed about that as we planned to just eat here most days as the long stay here was unexpected with our flight being canceled suddenly. Overall, I would rate this hotel a 3 star.
A 3 day stay with our dog. Staff friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless and comfortable. The ventilation not good in the bathroom - our only issue. Our cooked breakfast was excellent. Comfortable & cosy bar area. We will definitely stay again.
Visited for wake after a funeral so only experienced the function room. It was well laid out and the buffet food was very good . Staff were fine, and the service was good.Service: 5/5
Just arrived at last minute for lunch, was pleased that Henderson’s restaurant had a table free. Service excellent. Food excellent, lovely presentation, good menu. Perfect…lovely fresh mushrooms and prawns for starters, excellent Sunday roast with huge Yorkshire pudding, tasty Pork Belly and great fresh Fish and Chips. Used to come here when it was an Italian restaurant, not been for a while but will certainly come back again soon. Thanks. Food & drinks: Excellent..especially the Merlot wine
Looks and smells like an elderly care home. The rooms need refurbishing, the bed was uncomfortable and I could feel the springs. The reception staff were very friendly and the car parking was easy.
If the hotel has a function on other guests cannot get dinner. The rooms seemed tired and need updating. Staff were mostly friendly but they are doing multiple jobs due to staff shortages.Rooms: 3/5
this was the best funeral I've ever been to. Ohana youth theatre and loads of past and present member giving a lasting goodbye to their Producer. Walkability: on the 192 bus route
Had a lovely afternoon tea here. The sandwiches were filled, the scones hot and fresh and the cakes were tasty. Thank youRooms: 5/5
