Albany Solicitors is a three partner firm set up in 2006. The founding partners, Misha Giri Slough and Sara Chang Kee have over 20 years combined legal experience between them. Adam Sinfield became an equity partner in 2012.
Misha Slough graduated from Swansea University with LLB Law Hons in 1998. She completed her LLM Masters degree at Leicester University in Human Rights and Civil Liberties in 1999 and completed the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University in 2000. Misha joined a well established Cardiff law firm in 2000 and became the head of the Immigration Department there in 2002. She was made a salaried partner in that firm in 2003 where she remained until founding Albany Solicitors with Sara Chang Kee in 2006. Misha is also one of five qualified solicitors in the UK contracted to the Legal Aid Agency to review the quality of work carried out by other solicitors in the field of immigration law.
Sara Chang Kee graduated from Cardiff University with LLB Law Hons in 2002 having previously worked at a leading local law firm in a paralegal capacity throughout her degree. She completed the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University in 2003 and returned to her previous firm. Due to her extensive experience, her application to qualify as a Solicitor was expedited and she was successful in obtaining the only qualified solicitor job that was offered in the Immigration Department of the firm that year. Sara not only had her own wide ranging case load but also supervised other, less experienced members of the fee earning staff. Sara left her previous firm to become a founding partner at Albany Solicitors in 2006.
Adam completed his qualifying Law degree in 2005 and the Bar Vocational Course (now the BPTC) in 2006 and was called as a Barrister the same year. He is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and he specialised in Human Rights during his degree course. Adam is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. However, Adam soon joined the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (now the Home Office) as an asylum case owner and presenting officer and gained invaluable experience from his time with the Home Office in all areas of immigration, asylum and nationality. Adam joined Albany Solicitors in March 2009 as a Senior Caseworker and shortly afterwards, became a supervisor. In February 2012, Adam was significant in the establishment of the office in Bristol and continues to run this office to date. He became an equity Partner in the firm in September 2012. Adam continues to handle a case load involving all aspects of the work done at Albany Solicitors and is a regular at the Tribunals
Since 2006 the firm has continued to expand to employ experienced and highly motivated legal staff with a variety of professional experience. All fee earning staff are accredited under the terms of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Asylum and Immigration Accreditation Scheme.
Albany Solicitors has dedicated, strong ties to many local community groups in both Cardiff and Bristol, and also with those throughout Wales and the South West of England.
