I loved the ambience, the staff was so quick and friendly. 4 star cuz I had bigger expectations when it comes to taste and the hype Akbar has as i was specially visiting from Australia and friends here recommended me, but weren't met and didn't appease my taste buds to that level. Lamb chops & chicken karahi were the only items menu I found palatable. Naan was good too and so was the presentation lovely.
We went there as a group of 30. I think Akbars has changed drastically over two years time. Waiters were rude and looked angry most of the time. Only one waitress showed bit of happy emotions. One waiter even started showing attitude to my young colleague. Akbar is definitely not the way it used to be. Not sure if they were intimated by such big group but I was not impressed at all. Akbar has definitely lost their touch over the time or we had bad luck on that day.
Best Indian I have had ever. The food is spicier/hotter than most other places, but it was absolutely amazing and so tasty and the staff were absolutely brilliant. The size of the naan bread was just shocking. Big enough to feed half a dozen!Food: 5/5
Fabulous waiter service, very attentive. Delicious food and drink. Exceptionally clean and tidy. Vegetarian options: Good choice of vegetarian foods Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids and babies catered for Parking: Lots of parking space Wheelchair accessibility: Disabled access available Dietary restrictions: Thoroughly explained in menu
Literally the best Indian food ever. The portion sizes are immense, quality superb, service excellent. Can't fault anything. We had a fantastic experience.
-Ambience is good although filthy toilets - food is below standard - lamb chops with full of spicy coated corn? flour who does that - lamb shank was served cold straight from fridge on top of a hot metal bowl - grill prawns were good hence 1 star - staff very friendly and good customer service Overall: not worth going for food
Ordered the masala fish, chicken poori and King prawn tikka for starters. The masala fish was slightly overdone but the chicken poori was spot on and tasted great although slightly on the oily side. The king prawn tikka was really spicy but still tasted great. For mains we ordered ghosht and spinach balti which didn't really have the wow factor and was quite mediocre. The atmosphere is very family friendly and has a nice ambience about the place. Overall, not a bad experience but just expected a little more in terms of taste Kid-friendliness: Family friendly Indian restaurant Parking: Plenty of parking available Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair/ pram friendly Dietary restrictions: Halal
My Experience at Akbar’s was amazing, the food was incredible, the service was amazing, our Server Harry Young boy was very good. Thanks to the team and the chef for making our dinner perfect. WOULD Definitely RECOMMEND
The food is great. The lamb spinach is my favourite dish. The waiting time after placing an order to take it away isn't too bad and the food comes in a nice cardboard box that's easy to carry/handle. I haven't actually sat in the restaurant to eat, but having had some 7 to 8 take aways I cannot imagine the food is any different, other than being warmer at the table. The ambiance is good, as the restaurant seating area can be seen from the waiting area/bar. Great food. 5 stars all round.
Great service, went on weekday so wasn’t too busy. Starters we got chicken mushroom puri which was so lovely - it was a bit oily but the taste was so good. And it was such a big portion! We got masala fish which quite big too.. wasn’t bad. Was slight overcooked I would say. Final starter item we ordered was the prawns which were grilled - it was lovely came with a nice sauce. It was on the slightly spicy side so this is great for spice lovers. Mains we didn’t get to eat in so we took it home - we got meat and saag which tasted like a standard curry tbh.
