Food was mostly good; my friend had the pate and it was one of the best pates ever. My starter soup of the day had a bitter aftertaste. Main courses and service were fine. Some vegan options too, which was good to see. The Old Original Ruby Ale was excellent.
We have recently discovered this little pub & we love it! The pub is located right next to the canal & is perfect for watching the boats go past and making friends with dogs as it's dog friendly! The food is really delicious and fresh, would recommend the admiral Nelson burger & the fajitas! This pub is now our new favourite & definitely worth a visit
Lovely setting sat on the banks of the canal watching boat go through the canal. Sounds of the flowing water. Very attentive staff and amazing food and drink . If I could give 6 stars I would!!!!! Loved it. Visit 16/9/22 1pm
Fantastic canal side pub. The staff are very attentive and welcoming. Table service was excellent. The food was outstanding and there are a great set of draught beers. Lovely atmosphere with some very good song selections. Dog friendly. Would definitely recommend you come here.
A lovely, charming, canal-side pub and restaurant. The food here does not disappoint. The Sunday roast is to die for, being well presented, cooked just so, with a good sized serving. The staff are friendly, polite, professional. The pub is dog friendly, so always some four-legged friends on hand, to make a fuss of. There is a nice outside area where you can sit, with a glass of something, and watch the boats come and go. All-in-all, an excellent example of its genre, and a good place to idle away an hour or so.
Enjoyed a nice warm coffee on a walk. Mostly good food. Nice and friendly staff. Will definitely go back
Top-notch pub restaurant, the perfect last night on our narrowboat holiday. Lovely outside seating alongside the canal, charismatic and cosy interior, extensive range of real ales, wines, ciders, and spirits inc Teeling Whisky, yay!. Very good menu, and the food was excellently cooked and presented my faith in pub steaks is restored. Shout out to Michelle the chef who we were delighted to meet and thank in person. Icing on the cake? Our little dog was welcomed, and the music playlist was brill
Great place to eat and drink. Lovely warm and welcoming pub with great decor and absolutely fantastic food. Dog friendly too which is a huge bonus. Whenever I have visitors this is the place I always bring them, if hasn't let me down ever. A superb pub.
Didn't visit this time but passed it on the way through the locks. Lovely pub with a long association with boatman of the past. Always a welcome sight on the way up the locks, as you are nearly at the top! Plus I've had some great meals and beer there. They also have WiFi which is great as the phone signal around Braunston is very poor.
Had a boxing day meal in a party of 8. The main course goose had been massively overcooked to the extent of having the texture of shoe leather. Nobody asked us if the meal was OK. The waitress service was excellent and the location of our table and the ambience inside the pub were too. Overall poor value for 45 pounds a head however one person in the party had fish which she enjoyed
