The grandchildren seem to love Whipsnade and they get plenty of exercise. I'm happy because I can let them run wild and the place appears to be unbreakable. Every time we visit the zoo, they make a bee line for the butterfly house. The restaurant does a selection of burgers and chips, so lunch is sorted. The restaurant also has this snazzy electronic ordering system from a tablet on every table top. The kids order their own food, so check carefully before putting in the final order. Think of becoming a member, it is cheaper in the long run.

We have annual passes for the zoo here and make great use of them all year round. Definitely worth the investment if you live locally. The zoo is very large with a great selection of enclosures on site and lots of conservation and charity work going on elsewhere to protect a wide variety of species across the world. There are special events held over school holidays and talks on the different animals throughout the day. My children love the steam train especially but there is a brilliant outdoor play area and an indoor soft play so there is always something to do even on bad weather days.

Love this place. We are members (family of 4) so go a lot, especially when the weather is good. So much to do and see, we never get bored of going. Membership is pretty cheap so if you are fairly local it is well worth the expense as it works out pretty good value if you visit regularly. It's so big that even on busy days it doesn't feel too packed.

Despite the drizzle, we saw plenty of animals and the zoo was less crowded than usual. That allowed us to spend more time viewing and learning about the animals. The new Base Camp Restaurant was a positive addition to our visit. With waiter service and very tasty food and drinks.

Decent Zoo. Doesn't look to have changed much (or modernised) since we last visited about 5 years ago! Set on a very large site, so a fair amount of walking required, between animal compounds. There does appear to be much more happening in the summer warmer months, with shows etc - perhaps even more animals on display then too!? But then it gets packed. Restaurant hot food stopped being served by mid afternoon on the recent Sunday we attended - not great. Train ride costs extra too, even after paying £hundreds to become members.
