Today I visited the Main Outpatients, where I had an orthopaedic appointment, following surgery for a broken ankle. Staff were caring and considerate, as well as extremely knowledgeable, professional and encouraging. I needed it! I was sent for an x-ray. The waiting area was full, but I was still seen within half an hour. On my return to department 7, I was seen immediately. The doctor and nurse very carefully removed my plaster and stitches. I was given lots of good advice and encouragement, then fitted with a boot. To my delight, I am allowed to remove it when resting, gradually start to weight bear and even shower the wound after a few days. The doctor has referred me, already, for physiotherapy, to speed up the process, and avoid too long a delay. I cannot praise them enough.
Attended the hospital after slipping on my stairs. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. The accessing and treatment were very quick but individual interactions were unhurried and informative.nOverall it was a great experience with excellent staff from the reception staff, lady offering tea and coffee, assessment staff and x-ray staff and treatment staff.
I came in with 3 broken ribs, a broken wrist, a broken collar bone, and a broken shoulder blade. I waited 6 excruciating hours before they finally gave me adequate pain meds. By the time they were wearing off, they said they could only give me more once I got up to my room. Once there, the nurse refused, and I was only given them the next day. I was there during a heat wave, but they had no climate control, which led to a full body skin rash due to another condition I have, which led to more doctors visits and an unbearable 4 days. It was worse than all my broken bones. They had also identified a complication with my broken wrist but did nothing to mitigate it. If they had followed protocol, I would not have had to have surgery. But since they didn't, I had surgery two weeks later, which requires an additional 6 weeks in a cast. All of which could have been avoided if they were somewhat competent in their field. They actually missed my broken wrist completely, but it was glaringly obvious to the first doctor in Spain that saw the exact same X-rays.
On Sunday the 7th June I was taken into A&E after having a fall while on holiday at Haven y Mor holiday park, I expected to have to wait hours to be seen, I didn’t wait long before taken through to triage, after that everything went through very quickly, after having an x ray and CT scan it turned out I’d fractured my pelvis in 3 places. I had to wait on a trolley in the corridor for over twenty four hours due to there being no beds available on the ward, but they made me as comfortable as possible, I can’t thank the day and night team enough for their care, you are all amazing in what you do, and thank you to the lovely man who made sure I had plenty of cups of tea and something to eat. To all the A&E team while being under extreme pressure in your job you never let me down, thank you
Can't thank the staff in a&e and the Ogwen ward enough for their amazing care by all the team on my 9 year old mother in law iris , we where on holiday in Holyhead and she fell out of the shower and broke her hip, was transported to Bangor where the next day had a hip replacement, every member of staff on Ogwen ward have been amazing and where quick to react to all the patients as in her bay most had alzhimers and a bit scared at times, some of the nurses sang to them to calm them down or just spent time chatting to them which was wonderful to see. Then the superwoman that is petulia who sorted out the transport for us to get iris back home to Merseyside, thanks just aren't enough, xxx
