One of the lesser known theatres in London, however, it generally has great productions, and 'A Face on the Crowd' is no exception. 2 fabulous leading actors with a great ensemble in support. A modern take on fame and media infamy that some of the current generation of people wanting to be famous for being famous 'social media stars' could learn that it's not always nirvana. Awesome bar and restaurant if you have time before the show.
Recently visited the Young Vic for "Passing Strange" - an excellent theater-rock drama. This intimate venue, conveniently close to the underground, impressed on multiple fronts. Highlights: * Fantastic location with nearby restaurants for pre-show dining * Two-floor bar with a great balcony overlooking the main street * Efficient ticketing and entry process * Excellent seating plan with great views from almost any seat * Comfortable bench seating, even for a 2-hour show * Classic ice cream sellers during the interval * Strict enforcement of theater etiquette no phones, no photography * Progressive touch with unisex toilets * Relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere Our mid-first row seats offered an incredibly immersive experience. The compact size of the theater enhances the connection between audience and performers. Minor drawback: Strict no re-entry policy during the performance. Overall, the Young Vic delivers a perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and cutting-edge performances. Its commitment to both traditional theater experiences and modern inclusivity makes it a standout venue. Would love to visit again.
Relaxed theatre, with an excellent seating plan. No seats with obstructed views here. Also, banquet seating is much more comfortable than conventional theatre seats. The bar area is very relaxed and unpretentious. The play we saw was excellent, thought provoking and very reasonably priced.
It's not your typical theatre stage, very industrial set up. The stage is nice but the seats/benches very uncomfortable. The play was good. The staff were friendly. We made the mistake to sit there for some finger food and drinks after the play. The bar and the atmosphere was looking nice so we thought why not? Literally 4 minutes before turning the lights off, the waiter comes and asks if we would be ordering more drinks because they would close soon but didn't say how soon and we didn't know. Most places usually do this 15-20 mins before closing. We order, he brings them and lights turn on. Security person comes and says they are closing so we had to drink our wines as if they were shots! We wouldn't have ordered them if we were told we had 5 minutes left! On the top of that, we were given a bill that included an almost £6 service fee as if we had a 3 course dinner in an awarded restaurant. We had 4 drinks and 2 small tapas plates in the bar with barely any service. Not eating or drinking there again, there are plenty of restaurants and cocktail bars near, I would only revisit to watch a play.
Saw Face In A Crowd, fabulous musical. Stunning lead, the whole cast were GREAT. Loved the singing and choreography, outfits too plus v comfortable large seats, and fun bar - staff there were wonderful, v attentive
Good atmosphere, comfortable seats. strange rule of no entry and exits during the performance, but nice enough to ignore that. Good bar and ice cream in interval is always a good thing
Just great. Terrific theatre space in what looks like a repurposed industrial space. Excellent acoustics and sight lines. High seats, but comfortable enough. The bar/restaurant area is very lively. 3 minutes from Southwark tube. Proper theatre.
Yo, it was my first time coming to this place, and I love the space and the seats for me; they are comfortable, and I've been to a few theatres before. The staff is friendly even though I did not buy anything from there, and the restaurant area seemed to be run very well, particularly the QR codes put all around the place to save on unnecessary paper wastage. Oh, and I have to say this now gender-neutral toilets, after all, are all going to the same place, so does it matter what area it's coming from? I would say no. To me, this is the future of Theater spaces down with waste, up with haste, as in enjoyment.
A really excellent theatre space - comfortable and spacious seating in benches unusually and what looks to be great views of the stage from all seats. So no restricted views by pillars, overhangs and safety rails I'm looking at you Harold Pinter The bar is lively beyond just the theatre goers and does food too which is great if you need a quick bite for a midweek, post work 19:30 kick off.
Intimate theatre space that showcases mainly new pieces of work. Seen some great shows at reasonable prices and the lottery tickets are a great idea to make theatre tickets accessible with dynamic pricing. Nice bar area serving food and drink, toilets are unisex.
