The Staff secretively do not like people who try and succeed, who are not like them, and have different opinions. They find reason to evict you, and favour their mates. I currently have a legal case against them. I was never complimented, yet i`m their only success story. Management is not any different, when you look at the other Government departments. The Intensions are good, but they fail at preparing young people for life, because the staff are not truley qualified, and are inexperienced.
Depends what ymca you go to the one on London Road Derby has a brilliant cafe and some lovely helpful people but the accommodation side isn't very nice the people who run it need more training and understand of people's needs complexity support understanding struggles and addiction then it would be a great place unfortunately my son had a really bad experience there
Friendly staff, and well priced nice food, attended a course there.
kitchen staffs hair always in food .rudeness from staff .staff are lazy .when a resident hasn't eaten some staff say no to food simply cuz they can't be bothered to do their foo king jobs .staff dont check on residents .staff have not been helping residents with real problems .staff are showing little respect .I have had no choice to eat gone off food out of bins .dont ask for help or food anymore due to fear of staff saying no witch is what usually happens so I have to go most days without any food at all .its gotten to the point where I'm falling I'll every day getting worse .becoming underweight due to hardly any food I was moved here for more support but There is even less of it now
Terrible place to work. Avoid at all cost
Staff are doing a fantastic job look after the less fortunate. If it wasn't for places like the YMCA there would be many homeless people sleeping rough. Keep up the good work.
Security needs to be better. Constant screaming and shouting all day every day at stupid hours of the night. Driving me and my partner crazy.
This place has a major problem with bed bugs!!!! You will be bitten Big time!!! They are now employing an agency for nights... Called AGS and they sleep at night so you are not SAFE Ymca know all about the problems with this "Night staff" company and do nothing!! A resedent even got beaten up and had his nose badly broken, and still ymca did nothing about AGS who now work the night shifts. You are OK during the day time hours, due to alot of ymca staff about.... But nights, good luck. This place is all about money.... Don't think you will get any help / surport because its better for them if you stay because they can claim Your housing benefit . Night staff.... Are a joke.
I've lived here on two separate occasions and it was bad then but a friend of mine just moved in and it's even worse now could you believe!?!? THEY make you pay what's called a service charge at a rate of 18 pounds a fortnight this may not sound alot but trust me if your on a continuous budget, it is alot and for that you should be entitled to hot water from your taps, and heat from your radiators. This is not the case in one whole block if the company called 'Douglas'. Bed bugs not heating no hot water, thin duvets awful staff attitudes and rules, these are some of the hundreds of things that are wrong with this place. Do not come here if you are homeless and need somewhere to live it's not worth it!
Bad experience I still live here I just asked for a food parcel and I was promised to pick one up all they gave me was a padly let rare wich I have to wait for a thew days and not on the day so no I'm going with out today and lack of full support ie home finder daily as promised I much prefer to sort myself out they teat you like a baby.
