Stayed there while viewing flats as I was moving to Swindon shortly after. The place was in an ideal position, between town centre and the old town. The owner was very nice and friendly. The room was small, but with everything I needed and clean. Free wifi and breakfast included. Communal fridge and microwave available for all the guests. Carpet in the bathroom was the only oddity. A positive experience overall.
I dont say this lightly. This is probably my Favorite stay ANYWHERE. Ive traveled a lot and the stay here was amazing. The Breakfast was delicious and they were so kind to work around our changing times and schedule. The manager even work with us when we needed to get back to London to the airport. Ive never experienced such kindness and hospitality. The room was so cool, as an only child yes as an adult I still love travel with my parents its hard to find a place where we have separate spaces....this room was beyond cool. We had one room but still I was able to block off my area and have my own space. The whole inn was very clean. Clean towels when we needed. Swindon itself is also a lovely little town. Some of our best food in england was here. Quick trip to london and wales. Five stars for everything!
This is by far the best value-for-money bed in breakfast in the locality and, as an IT contractor, I have stayed in a few. How many bed and breakfasts in Swindon provide an iron and ironing board in every single room? Perhaps the top end hotels do, but I've had to take my clothes to downstairs front rooms in the past just to do my ironing, something I find tiresome. So to stay in one, like this, where this service is provided is a boon. The breakfast is really good as well and cooked to perfection. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
Had a wonderful 2 week stay at The Lodge Guest House. Fantastic location, 8 minute walk down the hill into town or a 5 minute walk up the hill to old town. Public transport easily accessible. Staff incredibly warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Family room was spacious, bed was comfortable, large private ensuite, great free wifi, fridge and microwave. Free breakfast was absolutely fabulous, Tony is a master in the kitchen and the meals arrived piping hot in minutes. Anna-Marie was so supportive in helping me deal with a family crisis. Both Anna-Marie and Tony went above and beyond to make sure our every need was taken care of and therefore creating a wonderfully warm home away from home atmosphere. I highly recommend this accomodation and hope I get to visit again!
We spent three days in Swindon visiting the RIAT in Fairford. The bus station is only 15 minutes walk from the accommodation which was a real pleasure because we had to take the Shuttle Bus to the Air Tattoo. There are numerous shops, Pubs and restaurants in a nearby pedestrian zone. The welcome at The Lodge was very warm and so was the service. So was a small problem with the shower immediately solved and if one has a wish, one must tell it only to the really kind owner. The room was a little small, which is apparently so common in England and also the double bed was a little small for 2 adult people. Otherwise you have everything you need including WLAN, Microwave, electric kettle and a TV. The bathroom, the towels were clean and there was also a hair dryer. The breakfast room is really very nicely arranged with a beautiful view. The continental breakfast was a little simple but sufficient and the coffee is fresh. The Lodge is a simple but nice Bed&Break Accommodation and we would like to thank for the hospitality
TheLodge is not exactly located in a district that represents England or swindon in the best possible way. But the bus station is within walking distance. That was one of the decisive reasons for our decision to book there. TheLodge is a small, old, winding house and this is also reflected in the interior. First of all, the friendly reception is to be emphasized. The first impression of everything is charming, cosy, winding... To keep that impression you have to try a lot of good will. Our room was too small for two adults in every respect. The same goes for the plank hard bed. To circle it one had to sit on it, there was not enough space for luggage. The spacious bathroom is particularly noteworthy. Less pleasing that only a faint drip came out of the shower, which did not change significantly due to the exchange of the shower head. For breakfast I really recommend to name exactly what you want. Otherwise, for example, the fruit dish will increasingly run down from the first to the third morning and will not be filled up. Scrambled eggs, fried eggs and fresh toast are served on pleasantly preheated plates. For a few days I can recommend the stay there.
