Story

The Wyvern Bindery specialises in bespoke bindings. Our main focus is to produce one-offs and smaller runs but we are happy to take on projects running up to 50 or 100.

We offer a tailor made service from start to finish. We can make your book to any size so you don't have to stick to standard formats; we simply crop the pages to your marks and make the book to your requirements. Choose from a hard or soft cover, round or square spine and make your book individual be selecting a covering material from our extensive range.

My encounter with Wyvern Bindery has been a happy one! I took an 18C book with curved and detached boards for possible repair and the options were discussed in a very informative and friendly way. I felt confident in leaving the job with them, and their estimate of the time required proved accurate. Their charge for this work was entirely reasonable and I am delighted with their expert repair.

After a careful consultation, when everything was explained to me and how my idea could work better, they produced a beautiful portfolio and slipcase as per our conversation. It presents my work exactly as I want it to. I would recommend wholeheartedly. Next thing I'm having done is a jewellery box!
This wonderful place is indispensable to me! Mark has set up somewhere specialist and welcoming. There are a lot of very skilful people working here, so it might look a bit crowded and chaotic, but it’s actually very friendly, professional and at the top of its game. The team is attentive to detail, empathetic and have a tremendous range of cloths and conservation skills to offer us. I’ve been delighted by the very fairly priced high quality bespoke slipcases and drop back boxes that talented Amelie has created for me, and Jools has then lettered exquisitely in gilt. I have never been disappointed by the outcomes and know I am always trusting beautiful and valuable books to very safe and skilled hands. Check them out!
I cannot recommend Wyvern enough. The staff are very helpful and it's worth popping by the shop/workshop to have a chat about your project. If you're lucky enough to catch Peter, he'll answer all your questions and soothe any concerns you may have! The book was made with great skill, care and an eye for the details. I will definitely return :-
We are antiquarian bookdealers, and it is imperative that our books look their best for our customers. We exhibit at the New York Book Fair, which is prestigious, and the boxes made for our books by Wyvern have resulted in glowing praise. The work done to make the boxes, and the skill and artistry used to line them do justice to the age and quality of the books being boxed. Thanks to the whole team at Wyvern, and especially Amelie for her brilliant and artistic suggestions.
Simply avoid this place! The service provided by the owner is outrageous. I went to discuss my job with them, straight after the printers informed me that it was sent to them. The owner shouted on me that the job is not folded, that it is a nightmare and it gives him headache! He started aggressively folding my pages in a front of me on a dirty counter. I had to take out the job and left as I have no wish to pay for such rude and unprofessional service.
We got a recommendation to use this bindery from a printshop and I must say the service was vey substandard. The staff were friendly in the beginning but didn't offer any expert advice as to how to print and prepare the material for them to bind. We had to come down and speak to them about different things at least 3 times and at the end the book was bound very poorly. There were smudges and marks on the pages from the clamps, the cover was full of scratches and marks. We expected a much better service for the £120 we payed per book.
