Let me start by saying I’m writing this at 11:49pm on the 1 night of my stay. I booked this as a little treat for myself, ‘a peaceful night away from home’ thought I. Oh what a mistake that was. Whilst the grounds are absolutely picturesque & charming, that is the absolute only reason I could possibly give it 2 stars. The check in process was simple enough, so once sorted and had a beautiful walk and some lovely food in a nearby pub. I’ve now ‘settled’ into my room room is okay, nothing to shout home about considering the price I paid to chill and get a rest before my long drive back home tomorrow. However; what anyone failed to tell me was there would be a hoard of elephants in the form of bass speakers tearing through my room all evening from what I can only assume is the wedding event reception that is currently taking place. I have been trying for a few hours to get to sleep now, absolutely impossible with the noise going on. I’ve tried to phone through to reception to enquire when the music will stop, no one answers. It’s coming up to midnight now, and I prey this incredibly loud music stops soon. If not, I’ll be packing up in the middle of the night and leaving. I’d have had a better nights sleep at home. Rm 40 for anyone staying in future.
I have stayed at Wortley Hall on a previous occasion, and loved it there. This occasion was even better, the room was superb, spacious, clean and with an amazing view over the lovely grounds. The room was warm, the water was hot and the staff were amazing. Breakfast was delicious, and the whole stay was really lovely, we had a great time. Thank you very much to Ellie and all the staff. We'll be back soon.
Came for afternoon tea with my mum abd brother, and again, it was amazing. Really lovely food, beautifully presented, perfect service and friendly vibes here. All profits go back into the building - what's not to love? I enjoy supporting this beautiful local stately hall and gorgeous grounds to explore including a lake and pretty woodland walks
Beautiful location in extensive grounds. Lovely to walk around the gardens and enjoy the local countryside. The hotel itself is steeped in the history of its original owners and its more recent role as a centre for worker education. We had a lovely meal in the wood panelled Fire Brigades Union bar and the other public areas looked stunning. Our room wasn't as luxurious as the public parts of the hotel, but it was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed for a short break - and the view over the countryside was wonderful.
Beautiful setting, gorgeous building inside and out. Our room was lovely, clean and with a stunning view. All staff very pleasant and attentive. Price was an absolute bargain as it included the best breakfast selection ever. The only thing that would've made our stay even more perfect, was if the sun shined! Awful rain made it harder to appreciate the beauty but I can't hold the hall accountable for the weather!! Food & drinks: We ate our evening meal at the hall and it was really good. The food was tasty and plenty on your plate, quite delicious and another plus point to staying
Loved it! Booked through Agoda well in advance. Got rooms very good value. Staff really LOVELY here, helpful and very kind. My Hearing Dog absolutely LOVED this place! The grounds are fabulous! English breakfast was scrumptious. I'll definitely be back! Photos includes my Hearing Dog enjoying himself. The grounds really are wonderful. Taken on 20 April 2024 Rooms: I had a single room, which was nearly as big as some twin rooms I've stayed in. Bedside lamp, proper wood furniture, including a wardrobe, the most fantastic gorgeous curtains they're really expensive! See photos, the best power shower that I've had for years! Safety: Excellent. I felt safe staying here. Walkability: Lots of lovely walks. There's some gravel/stony paths so be aware that it may not be 100% wheelchair friendly but a proper outdoor wheelchair should be ok. I was using a folding indoor powerchair but I got around outside ok Food & drinks: I had breakfast only but it was delicious! Also decent drinks and kettle in the room.
Lovely building, with so much history. The grounds are great to wander and explore. Good menu choices and they do great afternoon tea.Rooms: 5/5
On arival absolutely beautiful the grounds , reception , bar etc Sorry to say this but the room was disgusting wallpaper hanging off , dirty doors cupboards etc , only 1 chair for a couple no table , had to pay 5pound room service to eat off the bed as no table either, then to add insult to injury I had to full up a cup not glass with water from the bathroom sink as no other source , we did get the choice to move upstairs which was also sub standard , but the lift wasn't working and my partner has disability issues so we had to stick with what we had ,the meals and service/staff is absolutely brilliant but the rooms definitely need attention it let's the place down dramatically, sorry we won't be visiting again Rooms: Neglected, small bed , rotten windows , lack off basics toiletries, toilet tissue, full length mirror, no comfortable eating or seating arrangements, damaged paint work and moldy ceiling , dust on all surfaces
Just had Sunday lunch here and it was absolutely perfect. Managed every course and had the two roasts. The crackling on the pork was devine and the cauliflower cheese delicious. Nothing whatsoever to complain about, and what a beautiful room and setting. Retired after for an ice cold pint in the ornate bar. Must say a special thank you to our server Sophie. She was lovely and totally efficient. This establishment is lucky to have her in their employment. We will definitely return
We had a great Easter weekend here. Breakfast perfect! We met a very nice lady who is at the bar and at breakfast, unfortunately I didn't ask her name, Thank you for your kindness, we hope to see you again!Rooms: 4/5
