Story

Worthing Hospital is a medium-sized District General Hospital located in Worthing, West Sussex, England. It has approximately 500 beds. It provides a full range of general acute hospital services including A&E, maternity, outpatients, day surgery and intensive care. It is also home to the West Sussex Breast Screening service. The hospital is now run by Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which also runs Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-Sea and St Richard's Hospital in Chichester. It was previously run by Worthing & Southlands Hospitals NHS Trust, which merged with the Royal West Sussex NHS Trust in April 2009. In July 2013 it became a Foundation Trust. The hospital is located just north-east of Worthing town centre, between Homefield Park and Beach House Park.HistoryWorthing's first hospital was a dispensary created in 1829 in Ann Street. A new dispensary was set up in 1845 in Chapel Road, which when enlarged in 1860 became known as the Worthing Infirmary and Dispensary. The Worthing Infirmary and Dispensary moved to the current site in Lyndhurst Road in 1882 and was given the name Worthing Hospital in 1902. The Princess Royal opened the hospital's new East Wing in 1998.In 2001 a £1.3m Children’s Centre opened, enabling almost all children’s healthcare needs to be met under one roof.

My wife was in Durrington ward and the service from the cleaners to the doctors was fantastic. The food offered was of good quality bearing in mind you are in hospital not a top quality restaurant.nThis hospital I could give ten stars, the staff were exceptional highly professional, companionate and cheerful. Thank you so much for the attention given to my wife in difficult times.
I can only imagine how good Worthing hospital would be fully staffed and with slightly better funding. My partner has been admitted several times over the last year as an emergency and can only be honest and say, that even under huge pressure, I have witnessed a huge amount of dedicated care, full of approachable and friendly staff. Thank You.
After my visit to Worthing Hospital A&E last week and my subsequent few days on Emergency Zone C ward I wanted to write a review. All the nurses, doctors were wonderful. They are so busy, but they are attentive, professional whilst caring for you. It was a prime example of the NHS at it's best.
Such a great hospital. We saw a porter kindly ask a lady who was stood still if she needed any help. She didn’t need any help but the fact that he took notice and care sets a tone. The staff smile at you as they pass you in the corridor again leading to a welcoming atmosphere. It is exceptionally well organised, with such short waiting times for x rays, and the whole place has a lovely calm feeling. I used to have to visit someone in Brighton hospital and it was dreadful. This is the other end of the scale. Amazing people and clearly better management. Thank you.
I was unfortunately in A and E early this morning the 30th with a repeat of AF with a heart rate of 160. I have Asburgers so visit to hospitals can be difficult but my treatment was of the very highest standards. Every member of staff who helped me was kind, understanding and attentive.nThank you so much.
