Story

Worthing Hospital is a medium-sized District General Hospital located in Worthing, West Sussex, England. It has approximately 500 beds. It provides a full range of general acute hospital services including A&E, maternity, outpatients, day surgery and intensive care. It is also home to the West Sussex Breast Screening service. The hospital is now run by Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which also runs Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-Sea and St Richard's Hospital in Chichester. It was previously run by Worthing & Southlands Hospitals NHS Trust, which merged with the Royal West Sussex NHS Trust in April 2009. In July 2013 it became a Foundation Trust. The hospital is located just north-east of Worthing town centre, between Homefield Park and Beach House Park.HistoryWorthing's first hospital was a dispensary created in 1829 in Ann Street. A new dispensary was set up in 1845 in Chapel Road, which when enlarged in 1860 became known as the Worthing Infirmary and Dispensary. The Worthing Infirmary and Dispensary moved to the current site in Lyndhurst Road in 1882 and was given the name Worthing Hospital in 1902. The Princess Royal opened the hospital's new East Wing in 1998.In 2001 a £1.3m Children’s Centre opened, enabling almost all children’s healthcare needs to be met under one roof.

What can I say - Worthing Hospital, My mum was in the high dependency unit for just over a week, all the staff were absolutely fantastic, she was then moved onto another ward for another week, again all the staff were brilliant, I do not have a bad word to say. considering all the pressure the staff are under, I could not ask for any more.nWell done all, keep up the amazing work, we would be lost without you & the NHS.
As a woman it's never easy receiving good obstetric and gynaecological care. Women's health is overlooked, however I have just been to an appointment today and had a compassionate, thoughtful, expert review by a deeply considerate consultant who wants the absolute best for all his female patients and is committed to and understands the importance of women's health. I felt looked after, heard and valued today. It's the kind of care I want for my daughter and my son's partners. The kind of care all women should expect. Thank you Worthing hospital obs and gynae team.
I went to Worthing A&E on the advice of my G.P. It was a Monday morning when they are always busy and of course we all know the stresses and workload pressure in the NHS. In spite of this my experience of all members of staff during my visit was excellent. From Consultants to Cleaners, everyone was welcoming and helpful. I want to give special mention to a young nurse called Isabelle who dealt with people kindly and listened to what her patients said dealing with them in an empathetic way. She is a star and a credit to the NHS, the hospital and herself.nWhen subsequently transferred to Courtlands Ward in the Cardiology Department my experience was equally first class from all who dealt with me and the outcome of the procedure was successful.
Waiting 3 hours in kids A+E. Only 1 other kid. No tests done. No Dr seen. Then moved into adults A+E because their shift ended. No effort from staff to try and clear the child patient.nNHS is sinking rapidly
Parking is a nightmare, you’re lucky if you get a space.nI have recently been to A&E twice in one week with severe abdominal pain. I had a CT Scan the first time the doctor told me he cannot read scans which didnt fill me with any confidence and blood tests the second time. They told me they don’t know what is causing this pain and can’t do anything for me. The pain has escalated and I can barely sleep or get out of bed. The pain is out of this world and feel I need an operation or something as there 100% is a serious issuennNow having to try and self diagnose what is causing the pain so I can find a specialist asap to help me.nnAll the reception staff and triage nurses are very friendly though..
