The guy I greeted in the shop thought I was in the wrong shop but I was there to purchase a rare book. He was rude from the start.
I popped into World's End Books, something I had been meaning to do for, well, years! This was an excellent decision. I could have spent hours in this compact, but clearly and tidily laid out gem of a bookshop. I was most struck by the wealth of categories of books they hold. Right across the board. I was greeted by a charming man by the name of Bernard. He was polite, knowledgeable, and above all he came across as an honest gracious chap. I felt absolutely comfortable leaving a selection of books there, not for a moment anxious about them holding onto to them. Without going on, and I could, this is what to me a bookshop SHOULD be like. Unpretentious. Peaceful. And stocked with surprised. Thank you for a great experience. Maj.JJFraser esq.
I used to browse their cheap books outside. When I went to sell a book that I thought would work with their cheap books I was told flat out “we don’t buy books”, even though the sign on the chalkboard outside said “WE BUY BOOKS”. I hadn’t even taken the book out of my rucksack. Made me feel like I was judged by the way I dressed or even racially profiled.
Really tidy book shop. Lots of books from rare books, first editions and books galore
Walked into the shop and took 2 books out of my pocket. I greeted the staff and in response I was told "sorry we're not interested in those", not a hello or hi. How the gentlemen was able to read the titles one of which has no title on the cover I don't know? What I do know is that it was rude, abrupt and unnecessary. Fair enough they've no obligation to even glance at the books, but the way in which I was treated and left to feel was not a 1* experience. Unfortunately, Google doesn't allow 0*
Beautiful bookshop with hand selected stock. Helpful knowledgeable staff, would highly recommend!
Ordered Online. The condition was excellent as described, delivery was very fast and it was packaged beautifully. Lovely treat to come home to on a Saturday.
It is a nice little shop but mostly found random prints and books. Mostly seems like a professional shipping place. The gentlemen was very nice inside.
Popped in looking for a title I thought he might carry. Owner was rude and unhelpful. Made me feel very unwelcome.
They were closed on Monday, December 31, 2018. They did not update their website nor is there a modified sign in the store window. This is a hopping area and every other store appears to be open so I'm not sure why they couldn't manage it. I suspect this sort of as they approach towards business is the norm so I would stay away.
