The staff was very helpful and friendly and I found the wool I was looking for, and at a great price too!

Dissaponting, rude service. The woman seemed a bit annoyed to get off her phone to help me, then was positively snappy about talking about the solution I suggested to be able to use the stocked product. No 'thank you' even as I paid. She acted like I was lucky to get what I'd come for. I don't expect personalised service with a smile always because, hey, we're humans and anyone can have an off day, but no manners at all? I just moved to the area and can be crafty in moments. I'll think twice before going in again. Shame too because I prefer using local shops versus the big boxes or online.

I was just on a short visit in Oban and stepped by this tiny lovely store with fabrics and more. Bought more than intented to, also caused by the very friendly and helping owner. Would recommend anyone to step by!

Helpful gentleman serving. Nice selection of patchwork fabrics, but not much related to Scotland, they were waiting on an order

Firstly, this shop smells of mould, so you will have to wash the yarn and hope that the smell comes out. I was just going to make a small pair of fingerless mitts, so I thought I'd risk it and just hand wash them after knitting them. I sell knitware, though, and would not be able to sell anything made from yarn from this shop. Secondly, the lady who works was very condescending and rude. I wanted something soft and black or grey in either aran or chunky and she started snapping at me about how they were two different weights of yarn and not interchangeable (perfectly reasonable to say in case I was a knitting newbie, but I didn't need the crabby tone). I had to interrupt her rant to try to explain I knew that, but she kept going. I pulled out a skein of baby llama yarn that looked perfect and she said it wouldn't be enough yardage (it would have been, but in any case, there were two skeins, so I would have bought both). I asked if she could recommend something and she pointed to the shelves and said, "This is what we have." I asked about different colours and she said, "It's all out there." She walked away. No recommendations about something soft and black or grey. I left the shop empty handed, even though I had been ready to drop a tenner on the baby llama yarn. There is a decent, if random, selection of yarns here, but the quantities and colours are very limited, so if you are looking to buy larger quantities of yarn (for a sweater or even a large cowl or shawl) in a certain yarn weight and colour, you might be very disappointed. The haberdashery section looked decent and selection of quilting/patchwork fabrics looked good. There were some beautiful batiks. But again, the mould smell might have put me off buying anything I intended to sell or give as a gift.
