NOT A RANGE ROVER SPECIALIST! They've gotten two stars because they're polite. I had a very bad experience with this garage, especially Liam. I had a 2011 RR V8 ABS that developed a fault. I noticed it was bringing out white fumes from the exhaust and requiring more coolant, so I took it to them. They checked the car and said it was the water pump. They told me how much it was going to cost and I gave them the green light to fix it. Not long after I got the car back, I realised that it was still asking for coolant, and when I did my research, I found out that it wasn't normal. I called them, and they said that the engine is big and it might just be taking time for the coolant to circulate. They offered to get it looked at if I wanted. I took it back to them, and they looked at it and said all is well. They didn't charge me for this service, and I just dismissed it as being nice. Unfortunately, this issue never went away. After one or two more tries, I stopped bothering them. What was frustrating was that every time I took it to them, they kept my car for days, and I'll have to call over and again before getting any feedback. I didn't complain because they were 'nice people'. Once, I felt that the car was not accelerating as well as before, and an engine warning light came on, so I took it to them. Around this same time, I also mentioned the coolant issue. They came up with all kinds of diagnoses, including something to do with the catalytic converter and the car being too old. Part of their advice was to stop accelerating fast with the car. They cleared the warning and advised me to return if the light came back on. Fast forward to a few months later, nearly a year after they first changed the water pump. I went to them for MOT and servicing. Following this service, I travelled to London with the car. Just before the return journey on putting on the car, the coolant top-up light came up, so I topped it up. Note that this was the only time I drove the car after the servicing. I also noticed that the car began to consume more fuel. This time damning the consequence, I took it to a different garage an RR specialist where after two days I was told the water pump is leaking and the head gasket was broken. This new garage wasn't willing to fix it as it might cause problems with the engine. They advised me to take it to RR, which I did, but they wanted me to pay 15k for a new engine. You can't imagine how I felt, because time after time I had taken this car to Woodthorpe and they had told me that there was nothing wrong. They had also changed the water pump less than a year prior. I'm not saying they fitted in a faulty waterpump, but how did they miss this. My suspicion is that this waterpump issue contributed to the head gasket one. I feel like this could have been avoided if they'd done their due diligence or if they'd honestly declined to do the work because they didn't know how. I've had to sell the car and I'm sad that I lost money because this garage was careless. I stayed with them for a while because they were the only garage I knew that met my warranty criteria, and I thought they were good, even why they didn't solve the car's problem. I've typed this lengthy review to warn others. I've learnt my lesson, and I hope to get past this setback.
saw the reviews and decided to go with woodthorpe garage. booked in around 2 weeks in advance for a service and mot, but due to being at uni on the day i let them know i would have to leave my car outside in the morning which was no issue. the day before, i was told i would finish uni late, so i called up to see if it would be possible to turn up at 6:30 30 mins after closing to collect my car, as it was a 15 mile drive home. they said it was no problem, that they will give me a call on the day to get someone’s phone number, and someone lives just 2 minutes away so could nip back to get me checked out. on the day, i ring at around 2pm to check they got my car in to which they tell me the service is complete and it’s just finishing the mot, and that’s all that is said. bare in mind i have spoken to them on the phone at least 3 times now 1 to book, 2 to ask about 6:30 collection, 3 to check my car is in. all communication was great, until i turn up at 6:30 to find the gate locked and my car left in the compound with the doors open. i call at 6:01, but the phones are all cutting me off instantly, again at 6:09 but still can’t get through, then i keep calling when i arrive at 6:30. i am there for 45 minutes, when my phone was on 1% and i have to book myself an uber home £30 it cost!! and come back in the morning. when i turn up the next day, they say they waited until 6:20 but left because they ‘couldn’t wait forever’ yet couldn’t answer the phone or wait until the time agreed. when i asked for the number they rang, i noticed it was a digit off, so they were ringing the wrong number should have been easily able to get my number off my booking, from one of many phone calls etc but they brushed me off. i complained that they left me stranded outside meaning i had to get a taxi home, and they offered to knock off £20 which i accepted just to get it over with they ended up knocking off less than that which i didn’t realise until i saw the receipts. i mentioned the doors had been unlocked since yesterday, and asked why this was, which they said ‘how would you know?’ i can see the car??? and ‘i couldn’t tell you why’. overall, my car is running excellent and my mot passed with no issues at all, so no issue with the actual services, but i felt very disregarded and honestly unsafe when waiting and collecting my car. if it’s a small service that you can wait there for, then i would recommend, but DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR ALONE WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!
Update: They spoke to my partner and were very apologetic and have paid back the money that we asked for. I’ve been using this garage for a number of years without any issues. Until now. I decided to have a new timing belt and water pump at the end of November. After this, I noticed a shuddering feeling when driving, it didn’t feel right, so I took it back and told them. They took it out and felt the shuddering. They told me that they plugged it into the computer and it came up with the “coil pack”. They replaced 4 spark plugs and 2 coils. After this, the problem was still there, and started to feel worse. I was at my wits’ end with the car, having no idea what was wrong with it, and driving it as little as possible because it felt unsafe. So I decided to try a specialist garage that was recommended to me. They ran diagnostics and the spark plugs and coils came up. I told them that they been changed. I also told them that I’d had the timing belt and water pump changed prior to the spark plugs and coils, and they asked if the problems occurred after the timing belt was changed, which they had. They suspected that the timing belt hadn’t been put on properly. So I booked it in for them to look at it to confirm that that was the problem, and if it was, then I’d rather they fix it than Woodthorpe garage, given Woodthorpe would’ve created the problem in the first place. I was told that the timing belt hadn’t been put on properly, “tipex marks” were found as a way of aligning the belt, the timing was “quite a long way out” and “the camshaft timing had not been performed correctly”, which was causing the spark plugs and coils to misfire and show on the diagnostics. He said I wouldn’t have needed them replacing so I was essentially mis-sold them. They corrected the timing belt, took it for a test drive, and the spark plugs and coils no longer appeared on the diagnostics. The car now runs as it did before I had the timing belt replaced. I’m extremely disappointed with Woodthorpe garage. Altogether it’s cost me £1020. £495 at Woodthorpe garage for the timing belt and water pump. Another £210 at Woodthorpe garage for the spark plugs and coils that I didn’t need. Then £75 for diagnostics and £240 for the car to be put right by the recommended garage. That’s £525 that I shouldn’t have had to pay, if Woodthorpe garage had fitted the timing belt properly. Not only has this been a financial burden, it also caused a lot of inconvenience and stress. I emailed the garage on the 29th of December regarding this and, because of their negligence, requested some money back. My partner called to check that they’d received it on the 15th of January and apparently they hadn’t. The email was sent again that day. On the 19th my partner phoned again and apparently they hadn’t received that one either. On the 22nd my partner took a printed copy of the email in and we have still had no response. I wouldn’t recommend this garage to anyone.
They go above and beyond. Reasonable priced. Quick to get the work done. Dont rup women off. Great garage!
Highly recommended; they managed to achieve the impossible with my over-torqued and broken locking/normal wheel bolts and quickly removed them without damage, and on the same day too. Lifesavers!
Always sound.. very good prices and quick to sort things. Have done bits of work extra when noticed issues and let me know what to look out for and check in future. Best garage round here.
Brilliant service. The guys go above and beyond to get your car sorted. Liam is a legend. . . Thanks for all your work for us over the last 15 years.
Wasted 2 hours of my time to find out the tyre machine was broken.
Absolutely brilliant garage. After some bad experiences with garages finally had Woodthorpe Garage recommended to me. Makes such a difference when you can trust someone to do a job, get it right and not rip you off.
