My father went into respite here for two weeks.nHe was spoken down to as if he was a child, hosted whilst shouting out in pain, catheter not changed every day when they were told too, the catheter I found wrapped around his leg digging into his bottom. Air mattress not plugged in. List goes on. The worst part was when he came home and told us he was abused. One day I hope we get justice for him and more people come forward!
I recently had a placement as a student nurse at Woodside grange on the chestnut suite for a week. It was absolutely amazing, I can’t applaud the staff enough. From the second i walked in i was made to feel welcome and was introduced to all of the staff and residents who lived there. The manager Lisa was really helpful and answered any query I had in regard to the residents and other health related topics to aid my learning whilst there. The unit was so clean and organised and really gave off a homely feel which was lovely to see. The care and compassion from all of the staff stood out to me along with between residents and really conveyed how much of a big family they all are there. They also provide fun activities for all of the residents each day along with exercise and spiritual workshops to cater to everyone’s hobbies and enjoyments. It’s so refreshing to go to a placement where everyone is so joyful, the rooms were constantly filled with laughter and happiness throughout the day. It really is a very inclusive, safe space for anyone to be and I can’t wait to go back to visit :
My husband was admitted on Christmas Eve and has been living with dementia for some time.nThe care shown to him has been second to none and he loves being there.Never once asking to come home. The staff are friendly to him and to myself when I visit. They have been supportive to us both, so much so that, as he requires residential care now,I would like him to be there permanently.nKeep up the excellent work everyone. You have my total respect for all you do under difficult circumstances.
Our mam, who had a massive stroke, resided in Woodside Grange for over five years experiencing care on residential, then dementia and eventually nursing. In all these areas I can honestly say she was treated with kindness and compassion, being offered not only care but friendship and love even when she could be quite difficult and demanding. I know our mam could not have been cared for any better and it brought me great comfort to know she died amongst people who knew her well and treat her with the she deserved.
Absolutely diabolical care. My 83 year old mum was starting to fall at home so we had to get nursing care for her. We told the staff that we wanted a bed guard as mum was always falling out of bed. Staff did not take any notice even when we complained continuously. Within the 5 month in their care my mum was hospitalised 3 to 4 times due to falls, she had new cuts and bruises every time we visited. After a tragic fall whilst the staff were supposedly watching her, my lovely precious mum passed away. The last picture we have of her is with a cut face, black and purple bruises on face arms and legs and a large bump where she had banged her head. After complaining the manageress apologised and said when she first assessed my mum she should have asked whether mum had bed guards at home. Not good enough I'm afraid. I am of the understanding my mum wasn't the only one that ended up in hospital, as a poor 90 year old man was in the same state. I wouldn't let them care for a dog never mind your loved one.
