This is our third great time of staying at Windmill Lodges, they are real log cabins with all mod cons and very clean and well maintained by the friendly family owned business. The hot tub is great with privacy and loads of grass outdoor space and walks for running around in and dog walking. We have booked one of the dog friendly cabins, just bring your own dog bed. We highly recommend this attractive site above all others for location, cleanliness, personal attention and value for money.
Absolutely brilliant! Best holiday ever had in England quite small site, easy reach of the beaches, and places of interest, no lights and traffic noise, just take a torch to walk back from the pub! Lodge was very clean, thanks to Sue, Sue and Angela thanks ladies!
A lovely lodge in the quiet & peaceful Suffolk countryside. We stayed in the Kingfisher Lodge with it's hot tub & sauna it was a very relaxing holiday. The lodge has literally everything you need & is large with a big patio area as well as a decked area where we sat for breakfast each morning. The position of the lodge is to get the best of the sunshine on each area throughout the day, well thought out. The site is quiet with only 7 lodges that are all situated around a small lake, each lodge is separated by a hedge so very private. Located just a couple of miles from Framlingham with a pub a short walk away Windmill Lodges are ideally located to explore Suffolk & only 30 minutes from the coast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.
If could do zero star i would. 1st time came here a man was outside are bedroom window we wasn't told they be round early morning or else curtains would been shut. We enjoyed some times came here but we had cancel holiday due to reasons but then they keep your deposit till day ment to gone there wich we booked a year ahead. So got wait year to see if you get deposit back or not. This is disgraceful and we definitely will not becoming back for sure. We found a better place and not day light rob people. Lay deposit get discount for next stay if cancel you loose out of money. I recommend looking other places for holiday.
Awesome place! Staff are friendly and helpful, area is beautiful, lodges are stunning and clean! Planning on staying again next winter x
Ideal position for visiting a lot of Suffolk. The lodges are spacious with a lot of space and substantial hedges between lodges. Good kitchen. Hot tub is private and checked and maintained daily. Highly recommend it.
This is the perfect retreat. Nestled in the countryside, the lodge offers stunning views from sunrise to sunset. It backs on to land and is within walking distance of Saxtead Green Post Mill. The lodge itself was pure luxury! Everything is impeccably clean and well-maintained and the log cabin is everything you could hope for and more! The lodge we stayed in had everything needed to be able to cook meals indoors but we made use of the BBQ area too. Loved that there was a proper coffee machine and milk frother too...a great little touch that meant no compromise on my caffeine hit! The lodge is ample in size and ideal for spending time together as a family or having the space to wander off to your own room or sauna! for some down time! Each bedroom has its own TV and there is a DVD player for movies together in the living area. We spent most of the week in the lodge and did not tire of our time there. Bring DVDs, games and books and you'll be all set up for a relaxing week! We loved the hot tub, both under the stars and in the sunshine. It was secluded and wonderful every day! We didn't actually see any other guests throughout the week, such is the clever layout of each lodge! The owners were on hand where needed and it is clear that they care about the comfort of each guest every step of the way. To Lisa and John, thank you so much for everything you did to make this break so special. It really felt like home as soon as we walked in and we were so sad at the thought of having to leave, we booked another trip during this stay! We really can't wait to go back!
Lovely peaceful and quiet lodges but nothing on site. The lodges are a little past their best but have everything you need for a few days away. The kitchen area is well equipped, there was a complimentary welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, eggs and a bottle of wine which was a lovely touch and the ensuite bathrooms in Bullfinch lodge were very nice. The bed however was awful. The mattress in the main bedroom has obviously had years of use, or is just very cheap and has caused issues with both mine and partners back, to the point I now have an appointment with a sports massager to see if they can sort my back out before I go back to work. It offered no support and had sagged that much at the edges you almost fell out of the bed if you rolled over. Add that to the very nice but thin curtains, which hardly blocked any light and we we're both awake around 5am every morning of our stay. Not what we were hoping for from what we thought would be a relaxing short break away. It's a shame because the site was very nice and they could do so much more with it. I read in the visitors book in the lodge that there was fishing and a swimming pool up to a year or two ago. The lake hasn't been maintained and had no fish in it and there was no sign of where the pool had been. These could both be very good selling points if the owners invested a little money in them. The hot tub was very nice, clean and warm on our arrival but a warning sign might have been a good idea on the side of the lodge. The steps into the hot tub are just under the eaves of the lodge and my partner cracked his head getting out of it twice. In all it was an ok stay but we wouldn't come back again purely because of the lack of sleep we got there.
What a fantastic find. Sitting on our decking completely secluded from neighbours by natural hedges in the very well equipped and super clean Chaffinch lodge. Been to a few hot tub lodges but the layout at Windmill and overall experience beats the lot. Will be returning soon. Thanks. Ray/Emma
We have been going to Windmill Lodges for over 15 years now which shows the team are doing a fantastic job. This place holds so many special memories. The lodges are lovely, although you have lodges next door to each other they are private. Always clean. The use of swimming pool and hot tub. The staff are always friendly. If you are looking for a place to unwind and some peace and quiet this is the place for you. Would highly recommend
