The overall food and experience is good, but having eaten here a few times now I feel something is lacking. It could do with a little extra attention in places. Staff are friendly enough but don't go that extra mile to build customer rapport. Checked for allergies, but didn't ask how food was and failed to remember who ordered what when bringing back cutlery just a couple of minutes later. There were only 3 in our party. During my last visit, my cheese souffle was a bit dense and bland. My vegan burger although tasty looked a bit sorry for itself on the plate. A small side salad etc would have been nice to add to the plate if nothing more than for presentation. I asked for mayo, but wasn't offered a vegan option despite having a vegan burger. Not a big issue as I'm not vegan, but a small touch would have gone a long way. Others in my party complained lamb was tasty but a bit tough. The toilets look a bit tired and in need a rennovation. I will return, just not in a hurry.
Amazing food, impeccable service and a wonderful atmosphere... can't wait to come backFood: 5/5
If tack of lamb were in a beauty contest, this would win hand down. The picture hardly does it justice. Excellent service, friendly, attentive and helpful staff. A spacious garden with various types of seating. Table service both outdoors and in. Good extensive menu...all well cooked and well presented
Great family get together. 6 of us dined with 5 eating roasts and 1 off the Sunday menu. Lots of choice. Cauliflower cheese was lovely and creamy. Yorkshire's are a good size too. I really enjoyed the vegetarian roast option, delicious and tasty. Some of us went for the hot drink and mini pud, I enjoyed the blackcurrant mousse. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Went in at a busy time, so had a little wait, but food takes time to prepare and this isn't a fast food restaurant. Definitely be back again.
This was our first time to The Willett Arms, despite it being very local for us. The atmosphere was more conducive to a friendly, smart-casual meal, rather than a "down the pub" totally relaxed and very casual vibe. We wanted more of a restaurant feel for our meal, but with prices in line with our local casual pub. We loved the menu choices, the variety, the competitive pricing, the atmosphere, the pace at which drinks orders, then starts and mains orders were taken, and the pace at which food came out, never more than really a 20 minute wait in between courses, so ideal! It wasn't too loud in the restaurant, the lights were slightly dimmed for excellent ambience, and our young waiter, 16 year old Ollie, was very knowledgeable about the menu, the food, and had an excellent personable, yet professional personality for service with a smile. All around a superb experience and evening at The Willett Arms! We will definitely be back.
Just had our Christmas Dinner. Absolutely superb!! Excellent food, perfectly cooked and good portion sizes. The staff were unfailing polite and worked so hard to make up all a very pleasant experience. Will certainly be going there again.Highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing meal . Pan Fried sea bass and the Dirty Burger. A little pricey but well worth it as it was a birthday treat.
We booked for Sunday lunch, we were served quickly and in no time had drinks. The roast was lovely plenty of food and nicely presented, the staff were helpful and on several occasions quickly responded to our requests for sauces and extra gravy. The restaurant was very warm, well presented and very comfortable. Would definitely visit again.
Very nice venue to stop at when travelling to Devon/Cornwall. Accommodated us with our 2 year old with access to a high chair as well as bringing their meal out before the rest. The food was superb as well! Between the 4 of us, we have gammon, a steak baguette and a childrens pizza. All dishes were excellent, and there was plenty more on offer we would like to try. We will definitely return again when making the same trip, and maybe even for a random lunch some time. Kid-friendliness: Access to high chairs and kids menu. Parking: Plenty of parking just outside in the car park.
We had a booking today and we’re looking forward to a lovely meal. We walked in and were immediately told we only had an hour and a half before we had to leave our table. My husband ordered sticky chicken and it was lovely. I ordered spicy prawns, what I got was a bowl of tomato purée with a couple of thawed tasteless prawns. I put it down to a bad choice. We both ordered rotisserie chicken and a side salad. What we got was boiled chicken that was tasteless and had a rubbery skin which wasn’t crispy and the gravy wasn’t even chicken flavored. The salad was basically an onion salad that did not even have lettuce. I complained to the manager and he didn’t even seem to give a hoot and just brought the bill even though we hadn’t asked for it. Very disappointed and I wasted £50 and a meal that I could cook better at home. Please remove me from your mailing list I won’t return when even if you complain you get the bill. Parking: Good availability
