Thought I'd walked into a Card Factory. 7 aisle of cards and no pens for sale other than two multi packs of sharpies. Ridiculous.
Lots of books, quality stationery, friendly & helpful staff, big selections.
Unfortunately we were unable to find a diary suitable for our needs
Came looking for a specific book, was having trouble so asked for help from an employee. Got a really cold and uninterested reply that they didn't have the book even though I'd seen it online, so I asked if there was a stock system we could check together and again got a blunt reply that they didn't have it. Employee seemed really uninterested and like they couldn't be bothered. Went to Waterstones instead and an employee there saw I was struggling to find the book so they made a point of asking if I needed help before I went looking for it. I left Waterstones with my purchase and couldn't have been happier. Even though I paid a little bit extra, it was worth every penny. Won't be using WHSmith anymore.
This is a strange store it is rather like two outlets in a single location. The ground floor is a standard Smith's outlet somewhat cluttered, very busy and difficult to navigate. It has a good range of greetings card and magazines but that is all that I can find to be positive about. To be honest I try to avoid this space as far as I can. The lower ground space is very different. It feels bright and airy despite being below pavement level. There is a coffee shop at the centre encircled by the sales space. Around 50% of the sales space is dedicated to books and the majority of the rest to stationery. It is a surprisingly pleasant and welcoming environment to just wander around in. This is the space that I enjoy.
On the weekends I went to WHSmith Kingston with my children to buy stationary. I couldn’t find the right type of stationary on the shop floor however a young lad with glasses went above and beyond to get some for my children from the stock room. He was very polite and professional. Excellent customer service!
Huge store on two levels. Staff are friendly and often do demonstrations for kids products. Great place to buy stationery. Book department is also fairly big. Lots of new self service tills.
Went to get stationary, A4 wallets for filling. I found them eventually. No staff to ask on the shop floor. About £1.29 each or £2 for 2. Reasonable price for off the high street. I got 10. At the cashier's they tried to charge the individual price for all. My bill clearly showes the discounted price for each pair. Not impressive service, but they are there in the high street and they had some files. Actually they have a very large stationary area.
Went in to get narrow-ruled A5 notebooks. They weren't on the shelf my guess is low popularity and staff went above and beyond to get some for me from the stock room and then find room for them on the shelf. They were reasonably price and multipack deals applied too. Very satisfied with customer service and stock availability!
WHSmith is a British icon so we should support the brand before it too disappears. This branch was well stocked on the basement level which was quite roomy to wander around. I didn't shop on the ground street level floor but passing through it it seemed a little cramped. I got everything I needed as well as browsed for things I didn't particularly need. If you like all things stationery then this WHSmith branch is definitely worth a visit.
