Story

Whitley Bay Ice Rink is an ice rink located in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, England and is the home of the Whitley Warriors ice hockey team. An additional team played out of the ice rink, the Newcastle Vipers, who are now disbanded. It is one of two permanent public ice rinks in the north east of England. A ten-pin bowling centre in the area upstairs which was added in the 1960s was closed in 2007.AboutIt was also the region's premier concert venue, until the Newcastle Arena (now Metro Radio Arena) opened in 1995. Artists that have performed at the venue include Status Quo, AC/DC, The Cure, Iron Maiden, KISS, Metal Church, Metallica, Kylie Minogue, New Kids on the Block, Oasis, Pet Shop Boys, Sting, The Stone Roses and Take That, among others.

So much good fun to be had!nThere was ice skating. A giant wolf. An ice truck. Lots of guys sat in the unhappy box. Hot dogs during the break. Great evening entertainment!
Overall enjoyable very old school ice rink. Only complaint would be the figure skaters during public skate seem to have a disregard for others take a very wide birth when passing them.
This place is an absolute shambles. A dilapidated tin shack, owned and managed by people who seem to detest the very essence of customer service. Want to join one of their advertised lessons and pay for one before committing to the entire package? Forget about it. Want to simply take a look at the rink and the facilities before committing to classes? Forget about it.nnIt sucks that this is the only rink close to Newcastle and that it's so badly maintained and run, but then it seems to perfectly align with where the country's headed. Down the drain.
Had an amazing day at the ice rink. Atmosphere was great, Music was playing and I highly recommend going
Fun place to go ice skating with a decent cafe serving a variety of snacks and drinks. There is a lot of cynical money grabs such as charging for simply spectating your child at an ice skating lesson and only accepting card payments over £5.
