If only all local shops looked as nice as this, both inside and out. They have an amazing butchers and delicatessen, as well as brilliant locally made cakes/biscuits/cookies/cheesecakes. In fact the bakery/cake bit deserves to have an online presence or it's own shop it's that good despite the fact I now feel a bit rough after demolishing a Nutella stuffed cookie!. I've seen the review of someone saying it's overpriced compared to the Co-op nearby, whilst it probably is, the stuff here is a lot nicer. All in all, forgot the fact it is branded as a Spar which we all know are usually abysmal quality, this one is actually good.
A fairly typical Spar but with a large selection of local produce some of it looks really good. The lower rating is because many of the mainstream basics were way over-priced although in a high volume tourist area should be expected. In-store bakery items were really good we’ll be testing these later - pictures to follow.
Fantastic shop, very well stocked, you can shop for ingredients for a gourmet meal but they have Cooks meals as well. Decent selection of wine and beer including the local beers from Thornbridge brewery. Excellent sourdough bread and pastries. There is a convenient parking too.
Lovely little community shop with high end food and a brilliant little coffee shop. Definitely worth a stop for a few essentials and for a coffee.
When I am out and about on the bike I always stop here for a coffee from the machine and a delicious hot sarnie, the cheese burgers are in my humble opinion the best in town made with real beef, I cant fault this place one bit , the staff are friendly most of the time the hot food prices are great, you can park up and relax on the benches and watch how bad drivers are as they go by....all in all this is a must stop for any biker on a day trip around Derbyshire.....staff member i spoke to recently was not helpful at all so dropped stars
Can always find some nice treats in here. The cardamom buns are EPIC from the little bakery area. Even better if you can get them in the morning when they are warm and fresh! Three stars because unfortunately the staff have been a little rude more often than not. Sorry.
Not your typical Spar. Pleasantly surprised. Cook meals and decent butcher quality steaks! Recommend
Probably the worst layout of any small Supermarket I’ve ever know. It quite simply makes no sense. Half of the store is an off license with everything else crammed into illogical places. It’s also seriously over-priced, Co-op is two mins away from it and even though far smaller, it stocks way more at far cheaper prices. However, the staff are friendly it just needs new management.
They sell the best brownies ever!! We come here a lot for the amazing selection of brownies and traybakes - they are produced by the Bridge Bakehouse but we have never been. Lovely little Spar - unusual foods but expensive.
Excellent store which includes Spar, a post office, butchers and an ajoining cafe. Lots of fresh & locally supplied produce. Great store
