Excellent, dog-friendly, community pub with traditional atmosphere and great food + best pint of cold Guinness on Anglesey. Just go. Be nice, join in with the conversation and relax. Great pub for guitarists especially HM ...find out why by calling in!
We absolutely loved this pub, the owners are so friendly and welcoming and have created a really lovely atmosphere. Really nice food and drink and the outside area is amazing. Highly recommend stopping in here after a walk in Newborough
Was lucky enough to stumble upon this pub after a long walk on the beach. The 2 owners, Alyson and Sam were so friendly. The food was delicious and the pints were perfect! I have heard great things about the Guinness there since, so will definitely be back there when I next visit the area.
Enjoyed a lovely family meal at this village pub. Great food very hospitable landlady and staff. We were a party of 11 and the service was efficient and very speedy. Thanks to all the staff.
Lovely pub, Very friend staff and Locals! Good beer and food. Dog friendly, with a nice beer garden and aviary. Our dogs Loki & Ernie The Irish Wolfhound loved it! Will be back when next visiting!
Cracking family friendly pub, cracking food, cracking people. A great place to stop off and eat when you're visiting Newborough Beach. They were very kind and accommodating. The kids loved the beer garden and the aviary at the back too.
Warm welcome and a great breakfast, a hidden gem of a rear courtyard garden, worth checking out. Park in the old public toilet carpark as you turn in to the road to newborough beach and walk back the few yards to the pub.
We came to the white lion for a pint with the locals and we're definitely not disappointed! Be aware that in winter, no food it served, but the beer is cold yes, in the UK! and the prices are good. This pub is clean and newly renovated, and the company and conversation are friendly and full of local knowledge.
Upon entering the run down building we were greeted with 5 pairs of moody eyes and a sigh from the bar woman as if to suggest she was annoyed that we had disturbed her pint. It felt as if we’d unknowingly stumbled in on a locals night. She rudely and aggressively barked various orders at us - I understand it was during COVID but there was no need for the contempt shown towards us. Cash only business in 2021. We were given a flat overpriced cider and proceeded to drink this in the hostile atmosphere. I was genuinely worried about finding the exit as the one way system led us only to the toilets, and didn’t want to engage or aggravate the bar woman by asking her a simple question of how to leave. All in all I’m sure this pub is great for locals, but it’s a shame she had such a poor attitude towards us as she could tell we were not from the area and therefore didn’t care about repeat business from us - and it certainly showed. Wetherspoons has nicer carpets.
Stopped off at The White Lion for our afternoon cider. Didn't sample the food, but enjoyed r drink sitting in the outdoor terrace in the sun which was very nice, as dogs and owners are usually confined to the dark corners of an establishment. The owner has obviously took notice of the earlier review as she came out and swilled around dog hot spots regularly as dogs left. This truly is a dog friendly pub as no restrictions to sitting inside or out to enjoy your visit
