We stayed here for a night while doing the Cotswold Way hike.nnThe location was perfect for the walk.nThe room was small and basic.nService was not good. Upon arrival the person behind the bar was more interested in chatting to regulars than acknowledging us. Same happened during check out, most staff was not very friendly.
Lovely little pub. Only stopped in for a drink didn’t stay at the inn but the staff were so lovely! I desperately needed to charge my phone and they plugged it in for me. Enjoyed a nice pint with one of the books they had on the shelf. Will definitely return next time I’m in Winchombe! The Czech lager was amazing, get it if you’re there.
I was greeted by the assumed proprietor, a very pleasant and friendly geezer. The other staff were equally as welcoming. As a teetotal bod I normally avoid licensed premises but I thought I'd give The White Hart Inn a go as the café next door was closed. I strive to be as accurate as possible with my reviews so I've gotta say my latte was fairly ordinary but, in mitigation, they're a pub. The primary function of such establishments is to sell alcoholic beverages, those around me seemed pleased with whatever was in their glasses. The menu also looked inviting.
The stayed for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis with a £25 per person per night meal allowance. We had a very friendly welcome when checking in and led to our room which was in the adjacent building. The room was cosy with double doors opening to a balcony with amazing views across the fields. The double bed was comfy ensuring a good nights sleep, the room is basic and decor a bit dated. The en-suite was tiny but functional. Theres a fabulous choice for breakfast and the dinner menu is comprehensive; not too many options for us veggies though. Meal portions are a good size and reasonably priced. Waiting staff make you feel right at home.
We stayed here for 3 days, when we arrived the lady behind the bar was very unfriendly when I said we were staying where could we park, she said is that you on the front, I said yes she replied first right down the end of the road is a long stay carpark, she really wasn't interested. I asked about our luggage, she said you can put it out there. It wasn't the best start to our break when we returned she was only interested in taking our payment she was very miserable. Lovely location, brilliant for walks, Castle and steam train. Bedroom 1 tired needs redecorating carpet dirty and stained, curtains only just fit the window, the bed and bedding was good quality. The breakfast was disappointing, served on cold plates which meant breakfast was cold, the full English was small and the buffet table was very limited. The quality of the breakfast put us of trying the evening meal also the dearest lime and soda I have ever had £2.75 and served by staff that were only interested in the phones.
