Fantastic all round - We had a family Meal, 11 or us. Food was 5*, Service 5* & atmosphere perfect. Thank you to the team for being so attentive & looking after us so well. Thank you for making my Birthday Special. We will be back! Highly recommended.
The pub / restaurant is very nice with smiling, friendly staff. I had the full rack of ribs, and it was excellent. The pub and hotel are both dog friendly . Only slight negative for me the hotel rooms are very nice but could have been cleaner dust on surfaces and a little grubby around the skirting boardsRooms: 4/5
Nice pub, very kind and polite staff. Menu original. Durban bunny chow taste too much tomatoes, too strong for me. Desserts… delicious. Definitely worth to visit especially after long walk in Chiltern Hills
Very disappointing Christmas Day lunch. £250 for two for stodgy, tasteless food, a very disappointing carvery and inedible desserts. The only good thing was the wine, hence 1 star! I was attracted by previous reviews and we were looking forward to a tasty lunch but were sadly let down. An expensive mistake and not one we will repeat.
Beautiful and authentic place. Incredibly friendly staff, quick to serve, tasty food.Rooms: 5/5
Lack of atmosphere in the dining room. Food was good, but not hot enough. Table service was poor. Not having the correct cutlery on the table. Slow service. The whole experience lacked polish. Food & drinks: As previously mentioned. The food was good, well presented, but not hot enough. Lack of gravy and saucers on the table. Service was very slow lacked polish. Noteworthy details: The hotel had nice friendly welcoming feel
Really nice rooms, great staff and lovely food. The South African influence on the menu gives it something different.Rooms: 5/5
Very nice place. Second visit. Staff are friendly and the food is great Loads of outside seating.
I ate dinner at the White Hart this evening. Whilst I can't fault the decor or atmosphere - it's a perfectly nice pub - I thought the food was truly dire. I had the calamari to start, which was similar to something you'd be served from a packet in a Wetherspoons. It was dry and I'd be extremely surprised if this wasn't from a frozen packet. It was the main course though that really staggered me. This is supposedly a South African pub, and they boast "legendary steaks" on the menu. This was singularly the worst steak that I've had out in the UK. I paid nearly £40!! for a Ribeye "Surf and Turf" and ended up with 3 tiny frozen prawns on a skewer, rested on top of a steak that was roughly the thickness of a rasher of bacon. This steak was slathered in BBQ sauce, rendering the £3 portion of packet Bearnaise unusable. If you're going to brand your steaks "Legendary" on the menu and charge DOUBLE the price of Hawksmoor in Knightsbridge, Central London per ounce - you really need to back it up with something. I'm not in the habit of leaving reviews on pubs or restaurants, but I felt compelled to today. If I could give The White Hart one less star, I'm afraid I would.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this pub hotel. The staffs were polite and friendly and they treated their guests with courtesy and respect. The room was beautiful and quirky with two walk in closets, a shower room and a bath in the main bedroom. I had a really good night sleep. It was such a shame that I had to leave! Overall this is a charming little pub in the quiet countryside. Breakfast was another surprising excellent experience. large portions and decent quality, the food was cooked well. Dining option wasn’t extensive but there was enough on the menu even for a fussy person like I am. Plenty of parking available to keep your car safe. Tip: Book the restaurant early if you intend to eat here.
