Business trip staying at the Manor House, 2nd time here. Superb staff, fab meal and atmosphere last time. Even better tonight would thoroughly detour 100 miles for this level of quality. Thank you all.
A few weeks ago we thought we’d try the pub under new management as we loved coming here before. All the staff were lovely and welcoming. All seven of us really enjoyed the food. All I would say is that we were a bit disappointed about the hour wait for the food, and one of the people with us was asked to pick a different meal twice because they ran out of a few items like rice. But all round a good experience and nice atmosphere.
Friendly staff, good service and excellent food. Made very welcome. We have lived in the village for 20 years so will be supporting the new owners. We were asked when we booked if we wanted the festive menu. We didn’t but can throughly recommend the lobster Mac and cheese, and the apple and rhubarb crumble.
Disappointing visit to what used to be a great pub serving fabulous food. We booked table online and arrived hoping for Christmas menu, only to be told this had to be prebooked. Waitress did ask kitchen staff if we could order from Christmas menu. We were told no as it had to be cooked fresh? Assume the food we ordered off the normal menu isn't cooked fresh then. Food seemed was OK, although one meal was advertised as being served with leeks and green beans, but was served with kale and potatoes - no explanation or apology as to why. The manager's dog was allowed to roam the pub and beg for food at tables. Whilst we don't have a problem with dogs in pubs, there will be people who wouldn't find this acceptable. The pub was cold, heating inadequate. The place just lacked atmosphere. We left early as we were too cold to stay.
Excellent Sunday lunch. Ordered beef , it came with lovely veg and Yorkshire pudding. Faultless ,the manager and her staff were very friendly ,professional and welcoming . Good value, can only highly recommend.
Lovely meal at the White Hart this evening. All freshly cooked and very tasty. Staff are lovely as is the Manager. She couldn't do enough for us and very friendly. We will definitely be back!
Visited for Sunday lunch, had high hopes after great starters, however when the Sunday roast arrived, my hopes were soon dashed. Deep fried roast potatoes, deep fried so much that they were hollow with no potato inside. The beef, if you have dentures don’t go!! It was so chewy that my dog wouldn’t even be able to chew it!! Was hoping this would become our go to place for food, but after this Sunday lunch I will stick to what we are used to, give the Alma a try!!
Just visited the white Hart after it refurbishment as previously been here before and had a very good carvery well this time round was completely the opposite food was vary poor waiting time over an hour and that was with calling the waiter over to order drinks I since there was some recent bad reviews since reopening but as previously visiting was very good i though I'll try it under the new management wish i never bothered all I can say if you got all the time In the world and don't mind waiting 25 minutes for a drink and then an hour to have poor food visit here I totally agree with the poor reviews before the refurbishment this place was spot on bring back the old management want be surprised if this is shut within 12 moths
I just want to start by saying, staff and manager very friendly, and taking in to account its hasn't been re opened long so all that considered, I'm sorry to say, it was very underwhelming The food was mediocre, you'd maybe be fine with it for a lunch time visit, maybe if it were a special offer but for a Saturday evening, very slow service, forgot to take order, chips were dry, pie was.. a pie and really it was all quite underwhelming Saw photos of some of the new food, was quite hopeful but certainly didn't reflect what we had or what I saw coming out of the kitchen. So sorry to have to be negative Wishe you all well
Swung by here for lunch on a whim. Pleasant enough and fairly busy with nice sunny area near the back entrance where we sat. Friendly and welcoming staff, too, and Doom Bar at £3.50 a pint. Shame about the food. My daughter's 8 oz rump steak was well-done not medium rare as ordered and my chicken curry burger was similarly over-cooked and dry. Methinks someone left them under the grill and forgot as it took a while for them to come! Didn't have much time so couldn't be bothered to send them back. A pity they couldn't have been nice the first time round.
