An extremely attractive village pub, booked for Sunday lunch before heading off home after 2 nights away. Food was nice but could have been better especially considering the price. The roast potatoes weren't really roasted, quite hard, not soft & fluffy or crispy on the outside. The vegetables were lacking, would have liked a bit more, better still vegetables served separately. I prefer to serve up my own gravy too, so would have liked a small jug of gravy. Overall the food was very nice but we felt the portions were a bit small considering the price.
Arrived without booking on a Sunday lunchtime and despite being fully booked they were able to accommodate the three of us. We sat outside which was pleasant and the food arrived quickly. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the staff were great. We had 2 different types of roast and a chickpea Bhuna with the latter being flavoursome without being overpowering. I will definitely be returning.
Great location with a beautiful beer garden. Plenty of seating and warm atmosphere. Marked down one star as the roast dinner didn’t work for me. Over done roast potatoes and rock hard Yorkshire pud. Over all bland in taste albeit a good looking plate of food. Would return and give it another go on a weekday!
Had a lovely evening, meal was excellent, staff are great. This was for our anniversary treat although can highly recommend breakfast at the Swan too, visit for meals fairly often and always a good experience. Menu offers varied and sometimes quite unusual dishes. Really good selection of drinks too, including my favourite Chambord which isn't found in many places.
There’s a nice ambience here. We ate in the conservatory-like extension so we could take the dog with us well behaved non-barky type - other dog owners take note!. The food was excellent all round. I had a steak which was a good quality, texture, flavour. The staff were attentive and lively young waiting staff, but efficient and importantly friendly - well done team. We had a really nice time and the price point is about right for the food offer and the experience. Thoroughly recommend this place.
Good beer. Food looked great although we didn't eat here busy which is always a good sign Clean and tidy. Be aware that it says card only! Most people are fine with this but you never know!!
Our evening meals were a mix of flavoursome and interesting, basic but well done, and not so great. Overall, it was an over-priced menu but the friendly, helpful staff contributed to us having an enjoyable time. Probably would not return.
We decided to go for Sunday Dinner with our Dog yesterday. Knowing it would be busy, we decided to book online - open garden tables were not bookable which is pretty typical for most pubs so no bother, "let's go and if we have to wait for a table we have to wait". Turned up, tables spare, sat down and went to get drinks and menus. That's when it went downhill; "Hi, we're really busy and because we have 2 big bookings we are only serving Sunday 'baps' for walk-ins" Feedback 1: We had to be a walk in to sit at the uncovered garden seats, the only bookable option was covered which we didn't want. We shouldn't be treated as second rate for our choice of your seating. Same thing counts for big groups vs couples. Feedback 2: Nowhere did or does it give any indication online or on social media that we checked in advance that because you were a walk-in of any description that you would only be offered a bap. Feedback 3: I find it mind boggling that an establishment of any description is shocked and surprised when they are busy! Imagine if you went to John Lewis to buy a laptop and they said "Sorry Sir, you can only buy socks today because we are really, really busy and they are easier for our cashier to scan". As a pub, your capacity of seating should be your capacity as a kitchen. If you can't handle your covers, don't offer them. Feedback 4: With what has happened over the last few years, you would have thought any pub/restaurant will do everything within their power to hold onto every penny of business they can muster. As it happens we drove 1 mile down the road and happily spent near enough £90 at the Plough & Harrow and were in, fed, watered and out in about an hour and had a lovely experience. The extra star is for the nice waitress who tried to help us but with no luck after speaking with her manager. We hate complaining about anything, and I hope this comes across as just our honest feedback. We may try again at some point as you have been recommended by people who speak highly of you; hopefully our experience would be different but with such good competition nearby it's no longer as clear cut as it was before yesterday.
Fantastic pub/restuarant. Food is amazing, staff service at tables is great. We went twice over the same weekend and found the reception from the person at the bar somewhat ‘off’. A smile wouldn’t hurt! Apart from that, excellent food and service and would recommend.
I really liked the decor and the setting. Beautiful place. Unfortunately the food was nothing special for the price being charged and portions too small. Not the most friendly of staff, definitely a bit snooty and elitist. Turns out it was a cashless pub, which just seems crazy to me. We’re not in a big city. The meal was dads treat so my fiancée and I didn’t have our wallets with us and all dad had was cash. So we left cash on the table and won’t be heading back.
