Came for breakfast this morning as I was in the area and ordered the mega breakfast feeling a little hungry. Waited only a short time and the food looked amazing. Food was hot and tasted great so my compliments to the chef. Will definitely come back here as the manager on shift Jade and Chef John were both polite and chatty.
I hadn't been to this place for years and I was very pleased to see that it hadn't changed. This pub has always offered proper good value for money. There is a vast selection of food on offer, all for a decent price and the portion sizes are massive!! I opted for the Burger sizzler if I remember correctly which was a tasty cheese burger with bacon and salad, fries and a corn on the cob...and also another plate with a steak and about five chicken wings with onions and peppers all for about 12 pounds!!! I admit that I was definitely full up after that, but still managed to fit in another pint before leaving!! We will definitely be back when we are round the Swalecliffe area again.
Friendly, helpful staff. Food was quick and hot. Had a little issue with my chicken wrap but was resolved very quickly. It would be nice if the chicken wrap meal could come with a few more chips. Value for money. Great play area for families with children.
Probably the worst meal and service I have ever had! Ordered roast beef and the food took ages to come out, once it did we had to wait ten minutes for gravy, by which point our food had gone cold. The gravy was so thick you couldn't pour it and was full of lumps, carrots were raw, mash was solid, Yorkshire pudding was tough as old boots, the only thing that was passable was the beef. We left our meals, drank our drinks and left as soon as possible. Absolutely disgusting food, would not recommend.
FOOD GOOD .But very poor coffee we ordered a latte and cappuccino please get staff trained on how to make. the building itself needs a lot of work .cobwebs hanging from the ceiling lights not working benches with very torn fabric what is it with the curtains? dirty windows stained window seals tables badly stained broken tap in gents toilets no soap ?1.00 oclock no saintiser in the dispenser at the door what is it with that plastic dish they bring the cutlery out in horrible . Would I go back ? as it is no
Pleasantly surprised by the experience here, came at sunday lunchtime and were really looked after, good place for young children. Food was fine, at bargain prices. Outside play area was popular.
I’d love to be able to write a review on the food, service etc but unfortunately at just before 5pm I was given a phone call to say that my 7pm table was not available as the kitchen was closing! I’d made reservations for a birthday meal with family our plans were scuppered by the cancellation. Albeit that the young lady that phoned apologised profusely and was very polite and professional, this can not make up for letting my family, who were travelling from a distance down. I’m sorry but it’s just not something I’d expect from a large chain of public houses.
Called up on the off chance that somewhere would have a last minute table available for 7 and Debbie was more than happy to accommodate. When we arrived we where greeted with friendly staff who where happy to help. We ordered in two separate groups with lots of adaptation and not once did the staff make us feel like we where a burden. Compliments to the chef John, our meals arrived quickly, hot and where very tasty. Ahmet was very chatty and checked back on us to make sure everything was ok. We ordered pudding which also was lovely, we ordered off the new festive menu which I highly recommend. Will definitely go back
This pub is a real hidden gem. You get to wait 50 minutes for a falsely advertised microwave meal, whilst enjoying the entertainment of the local delinquents arguing with the barmaid. I was especially impressed with the steroid infused children's entertainer out front offering balloons.. the kids were thrilled and perhaps a little dazed. If you can't be arsed to go to Icelands then do come here.
Lovely staff,, but felt sorry for them as they were so short staffed and food was 45 minute wait. Good food , large portions, cheap. But more healthy options needed.
