I got offered an appointment for day surgery at this hospital owing to lesser wait time, despite it being an hour away it was so worth it. The hospital was bright and clean and I received 5 Star treatment from the minute I arrived to the moment I left. I was extremely nervous after having a bad anaesthesia in the past elsewhere, after explaining owing to me having a side room they allowed my husband to stay with me for support. I was quickly down to my room and attended by lovely 'Nurse Jayne' who made me feel very welcome, I was quickly admitted by Junior Sister 'Emily' also very lovely and reassuring. They advised that the anaesthetist and surgeon would be with me shortly. Within the first half an hour I had been visited by the lovely anaesthetist I believe was called 'Kate' and my Amazing surgeon Miss Nasira Amtul, both of whom put my mind at ease and took away a lot of my anxiety. I went down for my procedure and from anaesthetic to recovery ward I was approx 1 hour. I was then swiftly taken back to my room and left to rest whilst nurse did my observations. I was then offered toast, biscuits and coffee, lovely, they even made my husband coffee and biscuits. All in all I cannot praise all involved in this hospital enough. Well done and a 5 star rating is the least I can do. Huge thanks 'Victoria K' . Surgery date 27th Jan 2026.
I am extremely disappointed with our experience at Otley Minor Injury Unit today.nnI took my autistic daughter to the unit at around 3pm after she had a bad fall. After paying for parking and going into the unit, we were told she couldn’t be seen because they were too busy and needed to catch up. We were advised to come back later that evening and they might be able to see her then, despite the unit being open until 11pm.nnI explained to the receptionist that my daughter is autistic and that hospital visits are extremely difficult for her. I felt this information was dismissed, and there was little understanding or compassion for the challenges this creates. Being told to leave and return later, with no guarantee she would be seen, was simply not practical and would have caused her significant distress.nnWe avoid larger hospitals where possible because busy emergency departments can be overwhelming for autistic people. That’s one of the reasons we chose this Minor Injury Unit. Instead, we were left feeling unsupported and with nowhere suitable to go.nnI fully appreciate the pressures NHS staff are under, but compassion and understanding should never be overlooked, especially when dealing with vulnerable patients.nnThis experience has left me extremely upset and disappointed. I will be taking this matter further as I believe families of autistic patients deserve better understanding, communication and support than we received today.
Went today Saturday at 11:30 with a shoulder / arm injury. Receptionist took my details straight away , and I was triaged within 10 minutes. I then saw another practitioner around 20-30 mins later who examined my arm and ordered an xray which I had within another 15 minutes. Once that was done, my results were reviewed and I was treated and out of the door in a collar and cuff - total treatment time two hours , and the staff were all great. Highly recommend!
This is the first time I have written a review of an NHS treatment/hospital, but I was so impressed by the care I received when attending for an outpatient operation yesterday, I wanted to express my thanks. Absolutely every member of staff I encountered yesterday was first class, including the Ward 1 nurses and auxilary nurse that cared for me, the surgeon, the ward doctor, the porter, and the aneasthetist and his team, and the nurse in the recovery room.nnThey really do deserve praise and thanks!nnKeep up the great work, it is much appreciated!nnThank you.
Visited after cutting my ankle and chose the Minor Injuries Unit here instead of heading into Leeds city centre A&E. Really glad I did!nnParking was easy with plenty of spaces, and you can pay via the PayByPhone app and extend your stay remotely if needed.nnI was seen, treated, and stitched up within an hour, which you’d never expect at a busy city hospital. Staff were efficient and reassuring throughout.nnIdeal option for minor injuries if you’re in North Leeds or nearby, well worth considering to save time and hassle.
