Absolutely outstanding again from the Wetherby Whale! We ordered three Wetherby Whale “Whalers” with chips and they were superb from start to finish.nnThe fish was beautifully cooked with light, crispy batter and flaky white fish inside. The chips were spot on — golden, fresh and perfectly fluffy. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into the food.nnA big thank you to our server, Violet, who was brilliant. She somehow managed to talk us into two ice cream desserts… and we’re very glad she did — we made room for them and they were the perfect finish to a fantastic meal!nnConsistently excellent every time we visit. Easily one of the best fish and chip shops around. Highly recommended!

Outstanding traditional fish and chipsnnVisited The Weatherby Whalers and it truly lived up to its reputation. The fish was fresh, flaky, and cooked to perfection with a light, golden, crispy batter that wasn’t greasy at all. The chips were proper traditional chips—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and clearly freshly prepared.nPortion sizes were very generous and excellent value for money. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned, and you can tell real care goes into the food. The shop itself was clean and well organised, and service was quick, efficient, and friendly even during busy times.nWhat I really liked is that they’ve kept the classic fish and chips experience exactly as it should be—no shortcuts, just quality ingredients and great cooking. Easily one of the best fish and chip shops in the area. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for proper, high-quality fish and chips.
Absolutely gorgeous chippy! The food is fresh, generous in portion, and full of flavour exactly what you want from proper fish and chips. It’s the perfect spot to grab a takeaway and enjoy it by the river on a sunny day, which makes the experience even more special.nnI really appreciate the little details that set this place apart: you can add your own salt and vinegar just the way you like it, and they thoughtfully separate the gravy or mushy peas from the fish and chips so nothing goes soggy before you’re ready to eat. It’s small touches like these that show they care about the quality of the meal from start to finish.
Don’t think you can get better fish and chips than what is served. The tartar sauce is also amazing and fresh and we’ve never had a bad meal here. Well worth a visit if you are in Wetherby.
