Interestingly enough, they have a good selection of books, including hard to find Japanese mangas! You can even find some anime figures here! Awesome place to be!
Granted every Waterstones I’ve been to had been great, but this one is exceptionally nice. The staff are lovely, they must be read so many books because they always mention something about the books I’m buying. What a dream! This one has a cafe too which is nice, although I haven’t used it. I click and collected a book and it was ready to collect just a few hours later, collection was very easy. I’m a romance reader and although I’m not attending, I saw they have their FIRST romance panel event with 3 female romance writers. I’d argue Romance is the biggest genre so I was thrilled to see this and surprised it’s the first! No shame in loving romance so would be good to see more romance author events.
Good bookshop with lots of books and games. Also this outlet has a small cafe as well which made decent coffee. Always found that Waterstones sells books at a higher level than elsewhere, but of course, it has way more titles than elsewhere also.
Great collection of books. Absolutely love the bookish merch like little reading light, bookmark, and book holder. They have a nice coffee shop indoor, the same level as Kids and YA section. Got access for wheelchair cause they have both elevator and escalator inside the compound.
It’s a great place if you like to sit and read books and drink coffee. Coffee taste was good but they were little bit slow. They had many different cakes I didn’t try but look delicious.
I'm a passionate reader and I've been to this shop dozens of times. Every time I leave disappointed. Normally I would leave this alone but the last time I went in, a member of staff was very unpleasant and rude. I don't know if she had an unpleasant customer beforehand but I was polite and her manner was completely unnecessary. On top of this, every time I go there, books are bent and banged up. I don't mind buying books that aren't in perfect condition but these have bent up and creased covers, some taking up most of the cover and completely distorting the image. These aren't in a sale section and they are charging premium prices. They also have books in the wrong sections all the time. It isn't just books being picked up and placed in the wrong area. As I mentioned, I used to go there fairly often as I am a very passionate reader. I repeatedly find general fiction in the sci-fi fantasy area, specifically the works of Emily McIntire who is a dark romance author and all books of hers in this area don't have any sci-fi or fantasy components. I also went there for an author book signing. I follow this author online and I know his usual events involve talks first and then signing books. When I went to this one, we were lined up, given books we'd paid for that were scuffed up and I saw several customers having to either return them to get them swapped over, including the person I was with and we were rushed through and out. The author was lovely but through no fault of his own, it was the worst book signing event I've ever been to. It all feels very careless and loveless. And the staff were unpleasant. I would like to say I have had nice experiences with staff before but I've had several where they've been quite rude and the last one takes the cake. It's all left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I will not be returning to the store. If you're in the local area and looking for books, I'd recommend Forbidden Planet if you like sci-fi, fantasy or manga. It's cheaper and they actually take care of their product. And if you like things out of that range, take the extra journey to Winchester. The Waterstones there are great. Or just shop online.
As a regular user of the cafes of Waterstones, across the south , the drinks and food have always been a good quality. Southampton store was the same nice choice of coffee and tea and particularly nice cheddar and caramelised onion toastie , but jeez the young girls who were serving today need a customer care course . Th girl who served me never smiled , was particularly unfriendly and when I asked her about collecting sandwiches, she mumbled something about calling me . It was the first time I have ever met with someone so rude . Maybe University haven't provided the necessary course on human relations. Sorry but shocked
Brilliant range of books and book related gifts for all ages. Downstairs is a big children's section as well as large cookery book area.
Tucked near the stairs of west quay. Waterstones has its own mini cafe. Such a perfect place to hang out when you wanna star reading on the new book you have got while having some coffee or tea with pastries. We sat outside and the wind was very lovely as our drinks helped us warm up. Looking at people pass by and just breathing in some fresh air while chatting with your loved ones and having some refteshments. :
A lady cleared our table of cups and plates for us to sit down but it was filthy, with a large puddle of milk and lots of crumbs. We waited for the staff member to come back to clean it but she didnt so i asked if she would wipe it please. She did but looked very angry and when i said thankyou after she did finally clean it she gave me a dirty look and raised her eyebrows. Not impressed, wont return. If it was just a few crumbs I would of grabbed some napkins and done it myself but it was really messy!
