October Books is an independent community bookshop based in Southampton. It's a not-for-profit co-operative, which means that the money we make goes back into the business! On our shelves you can find books ranging from the latest novels by well-known authors, classics, children's books and audio books, to a specialized selection of non-fiction books on social and political issues. Anything you can't find? Try our fast-ordering service!
And that's not all! We also sell lovely hand-made greeting cards, organic/fair-trade food and drinks, household items and much more...

If you're looking forward the newest books this place is amazing .
Incredibly friendly with a great variety of books. They're very involved in the local community and it's great to see a thriving independent bookshop. If they don't have a book you want, you can fill out a form on their website to have it ordered in, and that generally only takes a few days. They also do a 10% student discount, which applies even if you do order it in.

Lovely bookshop and community space. We hired the community space for a birthday party, perfect size and lovely vibe. Staff were so helpful and friendly! Would definitely book again!
I am very disappointed you have taken the decision to cancel the screening and therefore censoring the documentary , Oh Jeremy Corbyn, the big lie. I was very much looking forward to forming my own view after watching it. Your response to my emails asking for an explanation have left me feeling fobbed off. This decision is very much at odds with how you publicly portray yourselves. Very disappointed with you.
Love the old shop, but this one has some character with the old bank features retained! Great selection of books, brilliant suggestions and helpful staff. Only issue is the fiction wall is so tall it's hard to see what's a the top!
Great selection, friendly helpful staff!
Independent bookshop with incredible range of books. Staff are really helpful and knowledgeable. They have ordered books for me when I couldn't find them online, got books cheaper than I could online and have a range that will increase your reading. Also sell eco cleaning products, some wholefoods and good quality fair trade chocolate.
