Congratulations Washland - 50 years since opening at Easter in 1966 and still going strong. My name is Tony Leahy and I am an Australian, now 77 and retired in Southern Australia. I purchased,  these premises in 1965 it then being a dress shop named Elizabeths and converted them into a coin-op laundromat which I named Washland, with a fit out of 12 Whirlpool top load washing machines, 6 Dryers and 2 Whirlpool Dry Cleaning machines.Those days the precinct had a Village feel, with Abbeys Bakery, the Co-Op butchers, Co-Op Off license and the Chocolate Box sweets shop next door, next to them the Bookmakers. Lovely regular customers, I loved my time at Washland. Alas, after some years we sold out and moved on to new ventures. Once again Washland, Happy 50th.and onwards to your Centenary !! Tony.

I think this is a very good launderette.  There are always staff there who are very helpful and there are no problems with change and the wash and dry quality is good.

They were supposed to try to remove a stain from my white dress that was intended for use as my wedding dress.  Apparently the dry cleaner didn't think the stain could be removed so when I arrived at the shop, the dress wasn't wrapped in plastic and the fabric was now pulled and therefore damaged.  I suggested this was from the sticker that had been placed over the stain to mark where it could be located, but they denied this was the cause.  The dress is now unusable without covering up the damage and they won't accept responsibility for this.  The dress is now out of stock in my size and would cost around £300 to replace.  I would NEVER use this service again and want others to be aware of what they did. 
also they display a sign that says they don't take responsibility for dry cleaning which the TSA say is against their Code of Practice, the Code says they ARE responsible for any damage they cause (even if this shop does send it away to a dry cleaner off site)
