Despite a revamp a few years ago Wandsworth Town station still looks a bit run down. The ambience of the station is a bit gloomy during daylight, and I suspect it's more uncomfortable when it's quieter at night. Staffing appears to be part time only and the station is left to run itself the rest of the time. There are four platforms reached by fairly long staircases. There is no step free access at all. For step free access, the alternatives are Putney and Clapham Junction stations either side. Train services are operated by SWR and there's a reasonable service west out of London and good services into Waterloo. Be aware, in peak times Waterloo trains do arrive very packed and boarding can be difficult. Also on westbound services, platform alterations do occur. It is not unusual for passengers to have to go back downstairs and cross over to the next platform, often at short notice. Difficult if you have luggage or find stairs a bit awkward. Platforms 1and 4 are lacking in seating and covered areas to keep out of the weather. Only the middle two platforms have a proper canopy and seating available. A characterful station maybe, but certainly not very user friendly.
Run down, no lift which is crazy considering the billions of pounds being spent on high rises next to the station. Cracks all over the place. I’d say it’s not far off a ceiling collapse. There’s a huge bottleneck exiting the station with a hundred or so customers queuing to tap out.
Good area if you need food or takeaway
Signs that make no sense, no details as to where to go, awful station with no staff on hand.
An train station that has kept it's 1886 look. well connected. No lift.
Good: 3 mins from my house with frequent trains. Fair: it is beyond max capacity & no lifts to the platforms. Poor: recently placed scaffolding is holding it together. It will collapse soon
Nice and clam town , you can see nice street after getting down from station
Great bars and restaurants
The station is very nice, well connected and clean, unfortunately due to the massive increase of the people living in the area is absolutely not sufficient and no lift service that is an incredible problem for the family with young kids need to carry on buggies and for wheelchair user. The Wandsworth area is one of the fastest growing residential area in London, plenty of new buildings and apartments, but the train station still is not able to serve the huge residential community
