Like the area, a lot of variety of shops with different backgrounds. The Caffè shop around the area are nice to chill while have a cup of hot chocolate. Recommend the area
My local station for years. I was sad to see the ticket office close as the staff are really nice and helpful. Still, they are around doing their job and are as helpful as always. The ticket office area has been camouflaged. The station is clean. The 'thought of the day' is always lovely to see. The escalators are usually working. It's a smallish station with two main stairs one left and the other to the right from the ticket machine area, each leading to two exits, again right and left.
Great friendly staff , line open 24 hours at certain times priceless.
A Grade 2-listed, Zone 3 Northern Line tube station with exits to both sides of Upper Tooting Road, the station is ideally situated for Tooting Bec residents and visitors. Take the left exit for the NINO /JobCentre Plus. Benefiting from a small but eclectic selection of books in the 'honesty' library, the underground ticket hall has on-hand staff and an array of ticket machines. For those occasional times when the rush-hour queue for the gates backs up into the hall, there's a calming Thought for the Day whiteboard and classical music. Escalators allow easy access between the twin platforms and the ticket hall, with ascension to street-level via metal step-nosed stairs. Tip: check out the handy newsstand by the southern left exit for hot snacks, or head right for The Wheatsheaf and Chicken Cottage.
