Fabulous nature reserve open to the public with safe walkways around the lakes and grass land. Opportunity to spot many types of wild life birds, mammals and fish. Several hides located around the site to give better viewing opportunities. Stout shoes are advisable and warm clothes in milder weather due to exposed nature of the site. Excellent cafe serving a varied menu from snacks to meals with a large range of teas, coffees and soft drinks.. Children's menu available. Viewing platform above cafe. Ample car parking. Access to the site is free but car parking is not free. Good for children.

Lovely place to go with kids and appreciate the wildlife. Easy access for buggies and prams. Good for fishing and bird watching. The Engine Cafe is nice and does a variety of food and meals. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's parking and dogs are not allowed. Certainly worth a visit!

My kids really enjoyed this place. I loved the minibeast adventure and the activities set out prior to the activity. The staff were very engaging and approachable. While exploring wetlands we found little plaques giving more information on the attractions we saw. The cafe and shop were quite pricey but the money goes to a good cause. You can always prepare a packed lunch for the kids as an alternative. All in all a good experience.

Well managed nature park and trail recently opened to the general public. Set around a number of large water reservoirs either side of Ferry Lane. Quiet and serene, well suited for long walks at all times of year. Log book kept in the Engine House for recording unusual species of birds in transit and resident species, local to the area.

Lovely place, but it needs more benches (and possibly more hides for the birdwatchers), and the wildlife and habitat management seems to come second to the needs of families with children and dogs. At the moment, it seems to be one large network of open paths. If the lack of secluded areas where wildlife can stay hidden and safe is addressed, Walthamstow Wetlands should then attract more wild species, and the place will be of more interest to wildlife enthusiasts.
