Waltham Forest is a difficult place to live because of the council, there are many scams such as claiming to clean road gullies, posting inadequate signage then issuing huge numbers of PCN's - then of course not even cleaning the road gullies!nCrime in the form of phone snatching takes place in the same locations daily and the council/police do nothing for fear of upsetting the perpetrators.nCouncil tax rises yearly above inflation whilst public service like bin collections are reduced to bi-weekly.nParking permit prices rise every year by 2-3x inflation. At the same time, no action on fly tipping, dog fouling, antisocial behaviour.nIf you can live somewhere else, do so. If not, post on here because complaining to the council or it's councillors will do you no good.
They totally should be reported to Government Ombudsman.nExtremely poor service. The council ignores anti-social behaviour and noise complaints, or replies with unhelpful messages saying it's not their issue—without directing you to who can help. The website is awful, clearly designed to make complaints or payments difficult. No payment confirmations, unclear balances. Totally frustrating experience.
Waltham Forest Council has failed me completely. I am currently street homeless, with no safe place to go, and struggling with my mental health — yet the council closed my case and refused to offer any meaningful support. They said a referral would be made to the YMCA — that never happened. I requested interim accommodation while waiting for a review of their decision, but was told outright that they’re under “no obligation” to help.nnThe lack of empathy and urgency is staggering. I’ve been left to sleep on the streets, vulnerable and unwell, while the council hides behind policy and avoids responsibility. Communication has been poor, promises have been broken, and my situation is getting worse. This is not how any council should treat a person in crisis. The system is broken — and Waltham Forest is choosing to let people fall through the cracks.
I live in Wellesley road. E17 8QYnThe council introduced new bin collections for garden or food waste.nMy brown bin collection has not been collected for 2 weeks now. My brown bin is half full with garden waste and food. All the fruit flies and other flies are gathering in the bin. Soon they will turn into maggots.nIt's disgusting that the council is wasting public money by sourcing out these essential services to the private companies.
Designed their website to keep people out and make it impossible to file complaints. The website asks for feedback but then rejects it as spam - nothing in my comments that would classify as such.nnI wanted to issue a complaint, but Waltham Forest has made it near impossible to receive complaints. Seems in line with how residents are treated.nnIt is unacceptable to change bin collection to fortnightly and announce this by post after the bin was supposed to be collected.nnThis in an area that already struggles with fly tipping and littering. The streets are covered in litter even before this change. Feels quite out of touch with needs of the area. The fact that you can't even feed this back to the council shows how out of touch they are.
